Alvin Joseph Buhl, 88, of Chilton, died on Monday, November 13, 2017, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Chilton. Alvin was born on February 20, 1929, son of Fred and Elizabeth (Woelfel) Buhl, in the town of Charlestown. At the age of 26 he married Alice Kraus at St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter.

Alvin spent his life working as a carpenter. He loved working with his hands and was always trying to fix things. When his work was done he filled his free time with sports, games, and competition. For many years he played baseball and basketball in Charlesburg. He was a hunter; he was a fisherman. He even had time for games - he was always up to play Skat or shoot pool. Through it all, he was also a Packer fan.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Alice; his children: James (Sandra) Buhl, Mark (Cindy) Buhl, and Mary (Randy) Vander Meulen; his grandchildren: Rachel (Fiancé, Caleb Bakker) Buhl, Matthew Buhl, Alex Vander Meulen, Sarah Vander Meulen, Carla Vander Meulen, Andrew Vander Meulen, and Zachary Vander Meulen; his sisters: Sylvia Dreikosen, Delphine Lourich, and Verne (Leroy) Thiel; his brother: Fr. Wilbur Buhl; and his brothers-in-law: Harvey (Ruth) Kraus, and Jerry (Patti) Kraus.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Elizabeth; his mother- and father-in-law, Frank and Irmina Kraus; his brother: Jerome Buhl; and his brothers-in-law: Sylvester Dreikosen, Charles Lourich, and Andrew Kraus.

Services are set for 11:30am on Friday, November 17, 2017, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call from 9:00am until 11:00am on Friday, November 17, 2017, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. al was a very good friend of my family. my dad bob and I have known him for many years. the last few years we always liked and enjoyed visiting with al. He would always put a smile on your face telling you some kind of joke or something funny in life. He always kept his spirits high and loved when someone would come see him. he will be greatly missed by our family and by many other people
