Gerald A Dohr
Harrison, WI

Gerald A. Dohr, 87, of Harrison, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 15, 2017 at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. He was born on July 12, 1930, in Hilbert, WI, son of Silverius and Helen (Basler) Dohr. On June 20, 1953, he married the love of his life, Virginia Mathes, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hilbert. They were married for 64 years and raised three children together.

Gerald enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1948 - 1952. He was employed by Kimberly Clark Corp. for 37 years, retiring in 1990. In retirement, Jerry and Ginny enjoyed traveling. They spent over 20 winters in Florida. Jerry also enjoyed spending time with family and friends; playing cards and listening to polka music. He liked fishing, gardening, and trips to the casino. He was a gentle man with a warm heart and a smile for everyone.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Virginia; his children: Debra (Gary) Halbach, Douglas (Sheryl) Dohr, and Darcy (Steve) Meyer; his grandchildren: Gregory (Jennifer) Vollmer, Jennifer (Michael) Engroff, Katherine (Jeffrey) Chaganos, Crystal (Adam) Seba, Cindy Dohr, Brittany Meyer, Brooke Meyer, Kevin Halbach (Amie - special friend), Amy (TJ) Radano, and Nicole (Jeremy) Fournier; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Donna Dohr, and Mary (Jerry) Pagel; and brothers-in-law: George (Gloria) Mathes and Stanley (Kathy) Mathes.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father: Ambrose Rutta; his wife’s parents: Henry and Clara Mathes; grandson: Dustin Dohr; brother: Frank Dohr; brother-in-law: Robert Mathes; sister-in-law: Rita Mathes.

His family would like to extend a special “Thank you” to the staff at St. Paul Home for their exceptional care. He made many friends there, entertaining them with his humor.

Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (N369 Military Rd) in Sherwood on Friday, December 22, 2017, at 11:00am. Friends may call at the church from 9:00am to 10:45am on the day of the service.
Our sympathy to you Ginny and your family. Long time ago we did go to high school together
