Jerome J Casper
New Holstein, WI

Jerome Joseph Casper, 90, of New Holstein, went to his eternal home on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Atrium Post Acute Care in New Holstein with his family at his side. He was born January 21, 1927, son of Mathias and Elizabeth (Koenigs) Casper.

Jerome attended Marytown Catholic Schools and later joined the Army where he became a decorated veteran of World War II. On his way to Okinawa he was stuck in a massive typhoon. After leaving the Army he went to Chicago for machinist school. Following his education in Chicago he returned to Wisconsin where he met Gloria Wippermann. The couple would go on to get married on May 28, 1955 and raise seven children together.

Jerome was always very patriotic, and he loved to have conversations involving the military.  Nothing could have been more memorable to him than his experience flying to Washington, D.C as part of the Honor Flight program on April 27, 2013, with his dear friends and hosts, Tom and Sue Burgin, to see war memorials.

Jerome was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church where he ushered for many years and became a member of the Knights of Columbus, serving over 50 years. Aside from his dedication to his faith, Jerome spent his life fixing and tinkering with anything and everything that needed a repair. He was very talented at metal work and one of his favorite hobbies was working with his lathe. He was very meticulous about the work he did, especially his lawn, but he was known to skip the clean-up after his work.

Jerome always tried to live a healthy life and encouraged his family to do the same. He was a huge proponent about healthy eating. Staying healthy allowed him to enjoy biking, boating on Lake Winnebago, and jumping in his Chrysler Pacifica - which never had a scratch on it - to drive around and run errands. Jerome also liked spending time with his very special friends, Buddy and Penny - his Cockapoo Bichons.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Gloria; his children: Karen (Bill) Kornetzke, Judy Woelfel, Linda (Jeff) May, Gene (Nancy) Casper, Kim (Bob) Turney, and Cheryl (Tom) Pritzl; grandchildren: Michelle Hemb, Jason (Kelly) Hunsader, Andrew Kirby; Jesse Woelfel, Jeremy Woelfel; Angela May, Elizabeth May; Eric Casper, Chad Casper; Nicole (Troy) Heinrich, Heather Heimermann; Michael (fiancé, Xiong Mee) Turney, Alyssa (Scott) Warnke, Stephanie (Hesham) Hafez, Jaclyn Turney, Marcus Turney; Adam (fiancé, Rachael) Pritzl, Lindsay Pritzl, (godchild) Kaitlyn Pritzl, and Christopher Pritzl; great-grandchildren: Tyler Hemb; Grace, Grant, and Reed Hunsader; and Baby Heinrich coming in December 2017; godchild: Laura Engel; son-in-law: Larry (Margie) Heimermann; former sons-in-law: Rich (Sarah) Kirby, and Dave (Lisa) Woelfel; brother-in-law: Milton (LaVerne) Wippermann; sisters-in-law: Rosemary Casper and Betty Wippermann; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, Mathias and Elizabeth Casper; his daughter, Carol Heimermann; grandchildren: Holly Heimermann, Joseph Turney, and Robert Turney; son-in-law: Gerald Hunsader; brothers: Gilbert (Marie) Casper, Robert (Marcella) Casper, Leroy Casper, and Edgar Casper; sisters: Clarice (Tony) Schmitz, and Marcella (Harold) Birschbach; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Milton & Carolyn Wippermann; his step mother-in-law, Gertrude Wippermann; and brother-in-law: Wallace Wippermann.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Atrium Post Acute Care in New Holstein, as well as Calumet County Hospice and Home Care.

Funeral services are set for Thursday, August 17, 2017, at 11:30am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (1724 Madison St.) in New Holstein. Friends may call at the church on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 9:30am until 11:15am. Memorials will be directed to Catholic seminaries in honor of Jerome Casper.
