Jerome L Ott
Hilbert, WI

Jerome L. Ott, 74, of Hilbert, WI, died on October 29, 2017, at his residence in Hilbert. He was born October 28, 1943, In Appleton, WI, son of Roger and Amanda (Krueger) Ott. On February 1, 1969, he married Kathy Halbach, and together they raised three children.

Jerome was a veteran of the Vietnam War and proudly served his country. Later, his commitment to country was rewarded when he was able to take part in the Honor Flight program with fellow veterans. Following his military service, Jerome entered the workforce as a business owner of a flooring store in Hilbert for 13 years. Later, he went to D & M Interiors as a salesman for another 20 years. His ability to lead and work with others eventually found him as a commander in VFW Post 3153, a member of the Lions Club, and as a volunteer firefighter.

Jerome was a simple man with two passions in this world: sports, and his family. He was a huge Wisconsin Badger fan and loved the Packers and Brewers. His love of athletics never surpassed the love of his wife, children, and grandchildren. He never missed an event and he was always in the seats cheering them on.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children: Teri (Brian) Kraus, Tim (Stephanie) Ott, and Tammy Ott; his grandchildren: Paige Kraus, Madalyn and Maverik Ott; his sisters: Judy (Ralph) Propson, and Nancy (Ron) Davidson; his brothers: Norman (Judy) Ott, and Mark (Vicky) Ott; sisters-in-law: Artie (Marty) Buechel and Sue Ott; brothers-in-law: Jim Fredrich, Bill Dietzen, Earl Halbach, Ralph Halbach, Merlin (Pat) Halbach, and Francis (Rose) Halbach.

Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Amanda; his sisters: Donna Fredrich and Bonnie Dietzen; his brothers: Bryan Ott, Dale Ott, and Larry Ott.

Services will be at 6:00pm on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W Main St) in Chilton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00pm until 5:45pm on Thursday, November 2, 2017.

Sue and Ken Platz - Nov. 2, 2017

I remember first meeting you at your home on Thanksgiving 1997. From then on- you made me always feel part of this family. We have shared so many great times with our family- from Tim and I living with you and Kathy to your 3 grandkids- we were blessed to have a terrific family. Now we say goodbye to you when we really weren’t quite ready for that. Thank you (and Kathy) for raising such a devoted and loving son whom I get to spend my life with. Maddy and Mav enjoyed spending time with you and were thankful you attended lots of their events. Your grandkids really softened you up these last few years. We know you are looking down on us as we go through today and beyond. Until we meet again- love you always- “Your favorite daughter in law 💗 PS- Mav tried out your spot at the dinner table- think it’s a perfect fit for him:)

Stephanie Ott (Daughter in law) - Nov. 2, 2017

May God wrap his arms around all of you in this very difficult time. Prayers and hugs to all.

I’m So sorry I’m unable to attend the services! My heart is with my Aunt Kathy, cousins Teri, Tim and Tammy! I’ll definetly always remember Uncle Jerry trying to correct and improve my golf swing to which he’d say, Don’t worry, you’ll find your swing! RIP Uncle Jerry! ❤️
