Monica L Halbach
Chilton, WI

Monica L. Halbach, 79, of Chilton, formerly of Charlesburg, died on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Atrium Post Acute Care in New Holstein. She was born April 28, 1938, near Chilton, daughter of Clemens and Margaret (Heimermann) Buechel.

In 1959, she married Earl Halbach at the St. Charles Church in Charlesburg.  They had three children together and she was the family matriarch - the “Go To” person about family information and important dates. Her family was very important to her and she was always there to listen to anyone in need.

Monica worked for various local companies throughout her life and spent her later years babysitting for many families in the Charlesburg area, something she enjoyed immensely. She kept herself busy during her free time. Monica could often be found staying up late at night working on puzzles or sequin calendars with her favorite country music or polka DVDs playing in the background. She loved sitting outside enjoying nature and whatever was going on around her. She would never turn down a trip to the casino - slots were her favorite. She also never said, “No,” to a good game of cards, especially sheepshead or rummy. While in the nursing home, she loved the activities with her new friends.

Monica is survived by her daughter, Sharon (special friend, Tom Schneider) Halbach; her son, DuWayne (Linda) Halbach; two grandchildren: Tiffany Halbach and Kelsey Halbach; sisters: Betty Moehn, Chris (Allen) Halbach, Veronica (Paul) Heinrich; brothers-in-law: Joseph Propson and Alvin Propson; sisters-in-law: Donna Buechel, LaVerne Buechel, Lari Grebe, Betty (Marvin) Kraus, Delores Halbach, Marie (Bob) Mueller, and Ruth Halbach; many wonderful nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Halbach, her son, John Halbach, her parents: Clemens and Margaret Buechel; her mother- and father-in-law: Alois and Catherine Halbach; sisters: Bernice Propson, Maggie (Ray) Joas, Albertine (Clarence) Kopf, and Evie Propson; brothers: Bruno Buechel, Tom (Eileen) Buechel, George Buechel, and Ben Buechel; brothers-in-law: George Moehn, Chuck Grebe, Herbie Muellenbach, Alois Halbach, Jr., and Roger (Helen) Halbach.

Funeral services will be on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 11:00am at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E Main St) in Chilton. Her burial will take place following the service at the St. Charles Cemetery in Charlesburg. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W Main St) in Chilton on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 4:00pm until 7:30pm, and again at the funeral home on Monday, July 17, 2017 from 9:30am until 10:30am. A prayer service will follow visitation on Sunday evening.
I'm very sorry to hear of Monica's passing. I always enjoyed hearing her stories when she was a patient in the hospital. You have my sincere sympathy.
