Grief Resources
Empty Chair Grief Support -
 
This is a general grief support group led by Grief Support Specialist, Karen J. Aspenson, MSW, CAPSW. Anyone at any point in their journey of grief are invited to attend. We'll be meeting every other week through the end of the year. The meeting will be held from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm at the Wieting Family Funeral Home in Chilton. Please drive around the back of the building and enter through the glass door.

Sesame Street Grief Resource - Grief is complex; it encompasses a wide range of emotions that can come and go in waves. Use these tips, videos, children's story, and guide to help your family communicate with one another, express emotions, and begin the process of moving forward. You are not alone. And with time, you and your family will experience new happy moments together.
Willowpark Place Group -
Third Tuesday of the Month, 3:00-4:00 PM at Willowpark Place, New Holstein, Wisconsin.
Men Journeying Through Grief -
A unique support opportunity
for men only

Meetings are the first Wednesday of every month, 6-8 pm at the Affinity Visiting Nurses office, 816 W. Winneconne Ave., Neenah. A home cooked meal is served. Pre-registration is not required, but appreciated for planning purposes.
Compassionate Parents -
A self-help support group offering friendship and understanding for parents of any age who have experienced the death of a child. Meetings are held the second Monday of the month at 7 pm at the United Way Building, 2020 Erie Ave., Sheboygan.
Cup of Hope -
Provides grief support and information to individuals experiencing the death of a loved one. Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday and third Thursday of every month from 10:30 am until noon at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center, W2850 State Road 28, Sheboygan Falls, WI 53085 (920) 467-1800. Pre-registration is not required and everyone is welcome to attend.
Healing After Suicide -
Fourth Tuesday of the Month, 5:00 - 6:00 PM at Chilton Town Hall. Please call with questions: Janet McCord: 920-904-3566 or Karen Klippel: 414-248-6277.
Rainbow Kids -
Provides peer support for children and youth, ages 4-18, who have experienced a significant loss due to a death, divorce, separation or abandonment in their families. Several 14 week sessions are held each year. Call Rainbow Kids for information and meeting times (920) 452-2838.
Survivors of Suicide -
(Fox Valley & Heart of The Valley)

Meets the 2nd Monday of the month. 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Unitarian Universalist Fellowship 2600 E. Philip Lane Appleton, WI. Open to all people over 18 who have been affected by loss due to suicide. Free of Charge and no need to pre-register. Questions please contact: Barb Bigalke (920) 750-9091

Wow! Where does time go? We are about a week away from the Wobbly Gobble, at the funeral home, Thanksgiving morning. Enjoy the pictures from last year. We hope to see your bright smiling faces that morning wobbling with us around Chilton. We wobble away from the funeral home at 7:30 am and return within a half hour to hour, depending on how fast you wobble. Coffee, Tea, and Hot Chocolate to follow.

We are starting something new. We had Grief Support in the past but we are enhancing our services. We are bringing in a grief support specialist, Karen Aspenson, every other Tuesday, starting on November 7. Please pass on this grief support information to whomever you think might benefit. We appreciate you helping us spread the word about a healthy step in the grief journey.

Consumer Alert: Scammers Targeting Seniors in Wisconsin Recently, there has been insurance fraud specifically targeting seniors in Wisconsin in exchange for personal information. In this fraudulent case, recipients received mail requesting personal information in exchange for the potential to qualify for a life insurance product covering thousands of dollars in funeral expenses free of charge. Fake insurances companies or agents defraud consumers by taking money for premiums on bogus policies with no intention of paying claims. Prevent yourself from being a victim of fraud. The best way to protect yourself from insurance fraud is to research the agent and company you are considering. Confirm the company and agent is licensed to write insurance in Wisconsin. Licensing information about agents and companies can be found at oci.wi.gov or by calling 1-800-236-8517.
