Alice A Kovnesky

Chilton WI

Alice A. Kovnesky, age 88, of Chilton, died on July 22, 2023, at her residence. She was born August 30, 1934, daughter of the late George and Hilaria Ries. She graduated from St. Mary Springs Academy in 1952, and on July 7, 1976, she married Gerald (Jerry) Kovnesky.

After graduation Alice worked for the telephone company until she became involved with Artex Products. Within a short time she became the District Manager then the National Artex Queen. Later she moved to Milwaukee with her husband Jerry and owned and managed a 28 unit apartment building.

Upon retirement Alice loved seeing the world, traveling often, including twice around the world and spending winters in Mexico and Florida. Closer to home, she loved the natural beauty of the flowers and birds around the home she designed on Lake Winnebago. Stories of the festivities at her home with her family and friends will always be remembered with smiles. She also always enjoyed a good game of cards and shaking dice, everyone knew to bring plenty of quarters.

Alice is survived by: her sister-in-law: Mary Ries; and her nieces and nephews: James (Shirley) Ries, Kathy (Glen) Donahue, Nancy (David) Maret, Jean (John) Potter, Carol (Adam) Holzman, Joseph (Michelle) Ries, Ann Marie (Bill) Landwehr, Mary (Jim) Albright, Jayn (Dave) Nott, Tom (Joanne) Ries, and Michael Ries, plus Sharon Eldred and Sherryl Lucht who she embraced like daughters.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her parents: George and Hilaria; and her siblings: Eugene (Priscilla) Ries, Raymond (Virginia) Ries, and Harold Ries.

Alice’s family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the wonderful staff at Calumet County Home Care and Hospice team for providing such companionate care, with a special thank you to Holly who provided such loving care for many years and Linda, her warmhearted and caring nurse.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at St. John Sacred Heart Catholic Church (N369 Military Rd.) in Sherwood. Friends may call from 10:00 am until 11:45 am at the church on the day of service. Alice’s committal service will be held at Portland Cemetery outside of Chilton immediately after church services.
