Alvina M Campbell

Hilbert WI

Alvina M. Campbell, age 97, of Hilbert, died on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.  She was born March 23, 1925 in Sherwood, daughter of the late Nicholas & Amelia (Puetz) Zahringer.  She married Arthur Campbell on November 12, 1946 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sherwood.

She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert where she was actively involved with the Christian Women and the church prayer chain. Alvina was also involved with the  pro-life movement.

Her family fondly remembers her as a “Domestic Goddess” who was an excellent chef and baker.  With her passion for recipes and cooking knowledge, Alvina would be known to read cooking magazines and watch cooking shows.  Her own cookbook, filled with treasured recipes, is a legacy that will be appreciated for generations to come.

Beyond all else, Alvina’s faith was paramount in her life.  She daily prayed the Rosary and lived her faith by lending a listening and compassionate ear to anyone who was in need.  She was a pillar of strength to all those around her and, as her grandchildren said, “…was as close to an angel as anyone could be.”

Survivors include her children:  James (Deborah) Campbell, Thomas (Marlene) Campbell, Steve (Crystal) Campbell, Joe (Cynthia) Campbell, John (Joyce) Campbell, Karen (Rick) Hertel, Mike (Shelley) Campbell, Lynn (Bill) Hertel; 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers:  Clarence Zahringer, Irvin Zahringer; and a brother-in-law: Leo Campbell.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alvina was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Arthur; her daughter: Ann; a grandchild; a great grandchild; her great-great grandchild; her siblings: Leo (Mabel) Zahringer, Walter (Catherine) Zahringer, Roman Zahringer, Ann Zahringer, Rose (Art) Hemauer, Anita (Al) Hemauer; and her siblings-in-law:  Marie (Butch) Fassbender, and Angie Campbell.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic Church (108 S. 6th St.) in Hilbert with Rev. Michael Betley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church from 9:00 am until 11:45 am on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. What a lovely lady she was. She would send a card every month to my Mom when she was sick. She was so thoughtful.
