10:00am - 10:45am Wieting Family Funeral Home 411 W. Main St. Chilton, WI 53014 ![]() Andrew E Propson Chilton, WI Andrew E. Propson, age 96, of Chilton, died on October 18, 2019, at Homestead Care Center in New Holstein. He was born August 15, 1923, in the town of Stockbridge, son of the late John and Rose Propson. On April 23, 1946, he married Virginia Lenz at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho.
Andrew was a dairy farmer most of his life and plowed fields until last spring when he was 95 years old. He did other odd jobs around the area throughout his life and he was always willing to help anyone that needed it. He drove and played cards until the very end, even enjoying Sheepshead three times a week. He always knew the point tally before anyone else had a chance to count. He was a member of the Chilton Eagles and the Quinney Fishing Club and he liked to hunt, as well as visit casinos where he always seemed to have the luck. While he was at home he liked to watch The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, or the Andy Griffith Show. More than anything else, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He told them they could come visit whenever they wanted, and he always did whatever they wanted to do when they showed up. Andrew is survived by his children: Sue (Tom) Jacky, Jodie (Michael) Ecker, Steven “Rudy” (Ann) Propson, Jeanne (Jim) Amel, Julie (Mark) Birschbach, and Scott Propson; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and another on the way; sisters: Rosie Karls, Dolores Sell, Alice Sabel, and Dorothy Gerner; sisters-in-law: Viola Propson and Doris Propson; and brother-in-law: Francis (Dolores) Lenz. Andrew was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; his parents: John and Rose; a sister: Isabelle (Leo) Miller; brothers: Leander (Viola) Propson, John (Lydia) Propson, Greg (Rose) Propson, Irwin (Eleanor) Propson, Joseph (Bernice) Propson, Arthur Propson, and Ted Propson; and brothers-in-law: Cyril Karls, Tony Sabel, Robert Gerner, Raymond (Ardys) Lenz, and Richard Lenz. A funeral service is planned for 11:00am on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call from 2:00pm until 6:00pm on Friday, November 1, at the funeral home, and from 10:00am until 11:00am on Saturday, November 2, at the funeral home. Burial is scheduled for 3:00pm on Saturday, November 2, at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery in Kloten. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Calumet County First Responders, Ascension Calumet Hospital of Chilton, Homestead Care Center of New Holstein, and Calumet County Hospice Care for the loving care that was provided. Sorry for your loss, he was always a pleasure to visit with.
