Anna Marie (Meyers) Jost

Chilton WI

Anna Marie (Meyers) Jost, age 84, of Chilton, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6th, 2024, at Century Ridge Care Facility in Chilton. Anna Marie was born on August 7, 1939, to the late Zeno and Marie (Pethan) Meyers. She graduated eighth grade from St. Charles Catholic School in Charlesburg. Anna attended Chilton High School, until she left home at age 17 and entered the Franciscan Convent in West Allis Milwaukee. There she continued her high school studies and graduated. Anna continued her studies for becoming a nun. During this time she was positioned as the head cook at Holy Redeemer Parish where she prepared delicious home cooked meals with eye pleasing presentation. Anna had a change of heart and mind, and left the convent after nine years and returned to secular life in Chilton.

Anna was employed at Chilton Products (Worthington), and then proceeded to move to Fond du Lac where she continued her manufacturing employment. This is where Anna met the love of her life, Edward Jost, who was a life-long resident of Milwaukee. On December 12, 1970, Anna married Edward, and they made their home in Brown Deer, Milwaukee. Together they carved out a loving relationship of 51 years. Anna worked at Motortrol where they manufactured hot water heaters. She retired in 2002. Anna made many good, close friendships on the production line that she stayed in contact with until her death.

Anna and Ed moved to Chilton in 2018 to be closer to family and for assistance in everyday routines, since they both were getting up in age. Anna enjoyed nature and was an avid walker. She enjoyed Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. For many of the years Anna was in Chilton, she was a regular customer at 7 Angels Restaurant where the wait staff knew her regular order of a waffle with strawberries and coffee. Anna was a good, kind, and hard-working woman who helped anyone who was in need.

Anna is survived by her brothers: Gervase Meyers and LeRoy (Pat) Meyers; her sisters: Loretta (Harold) Baer, Adella Anhalt, Pauline (Joe) Geiser, and Julie Meyers; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Jost; her parents: Zeno and Marie Meyers; brother: Ralph Meyers; sister-in-law: Ann Meyers; brother-in-law: Paul Anhalt; parents-in-law: Louis and Anna Jost; and siblings-in-law: Louis, Jr. and Margaret Jost, Rudolph and Margaret Jost, Joseph and Tana Marie Jost, Robert and Jannette Jost, Anna and Garhart Wolff; Emma and John Schupp, and two baby sisters that died in Austria during childhood.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54E. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call from 10:00 am until 11:15 am at the church on the day of service. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available for those wishing to watch a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family on their website page provided through wietingfuneralhome.com

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Century Ridge care givers and the Calumet County Hospice team of Linda Karls, Amanda Heiberger, and Holly. There are no words to express our gratitude for the loving care you gave our dear sister, Anna, at the end of her life.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in the name of Anna Jost and directed to Milwaukee Children’s Hospital.

To Anna's brothers and sisters we express our deepest sympathy for your loss. Iconic enough they were married the same date and year we were married. May the Dear Lord bless you all at this difficult time.
