Anthony D Butkovich
Tn. of Chilton WI
Anthony “Tony” D. Butkovich Jr., age 62 of Chilton, passed away on his birthday, February 22nd, 2025, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital after a brief hospitalization from complications of COPD and a broken heart. Tony was born on February 22nd, 1963, to Anthony “Tony” D. Sr. and Virginia R. Butkovich in Menominee, MI. A couple of years after his birth the family moved to WI and settled in the Brillion area where Tony loved working on cars, trucks, motorcycles or reading about flight and outer space. He loved watching Star Trek as a kid and probably gained his inspiration to join the Air Force from that show.
Tony attended and graduated from Brillion Public School in 1981. He enlisted in the Air Force upon graduation and landed at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada where he thoroughly enjoyed performing maintenance and repair on F4 Phantoms, F15 & F16 aircraft. It was during his stay in Nevada that Tony’s first-born son, Daryal, was born. After his separation from service, Tony moved back to the Brillion area and began working at Kasson Cheese where he met the love of his life and the person he could always lean on, Karen Stenz. Tony went on to have careers with Mercury Marine and Pierce Manufacturing where his attention to technical details were appreciated.
On July 8th, 1989, he married Karen M. Stenz at St. Patrick’s Parish in Maple Grove, WI. Together they raised three amazing sons, Daryal, Jake and John, helped raise two awesome grandsons, Hunter & Isaac, and fell in love all over again with the birth of his granddaughter, Maryn. Since his wife, Karen’s passing, his children and grandchildren have been the spark to keep him going, his eyes always lit up when he saw them.
Tony loved his motorcycles and snow mobiles and was happiest when he and Karen were cruising or sledding, stopping in at various spots for a warmup or cool down. In his younger days he loved to fish or just sit by the campfire and shoot the breeze as Tony could be known to “stretch a fish”!
Tony is survived by his children and grandchildren: Daryal Butkovich (Hunter and Isaac), Jake & Jackie Butkovich (Maryn), John Butkovich & Ric Watson, parents: Tony Sr. (Virginia) Butkovich; siblings: Eric (Anita) Butkovich; Sheila (Dave)VanderHeiden; Henry (Theresa)Butkovich; in-laws: Dan (Carol) Stenz, Jean (Tom) Danor, Linda Dvorak, Steve (Christine) Stenz, Sharon (Pete) Rosenow, Nancy (Ron) Woelfel, Gerry (Karen) Stenz, Ann (Tim) Knoespel; Mark (Diane) Stenz; ex-spouse: Kathleen Lietinen and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Tony is preceded in death by his wife, Karen M. Butkovich, brother in laws: Wayne Stenz; Rick Stenz; Tom Dvorak and daughter-in-law: Jolene Fhlug.
The family would like to extend a special THANK YOU to all the doctors, nurses and staff from Calumet Medical Center, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Ascension Home Health and Hospice and Calumet County Home Health and Hospice for all the treatment and care you have given me and my family.
Funeral services are currently pending; please check back for more information.

Tony and Virgina We are heart broken to see the passing of Tony Jr. We couldn't believe it when we read it. We are currently in Florida and plan on returning in April. 2024 was not a good year for us with the passing of Dennis, Linda's mom Joan and most recently Cal. God bless you all in this time of grief. With Love Jim & Linda
