Arlene Marie Gates, age 84 passed away October 4, 2019 at the Homestead Care Facility in New Holstein, after an 8 year battle with cancer.

Born on January 31, 1935, the first of nine daughters born to Irene (Meier) and Anthony Hoerth.  Born and raised in Marytown, she attended Kiel High School and graduated from there in 1952.  

Met and married John “Bud” Gates in November of 1953.  He preceded her in death in 1985.  She later married Dennis Reynolds in 1996.  He preceded her in death in 2017.

Arlene worked at Tecumseh Products for 30 years.  Arlene and Bud also purchased what was known as the Hadi Club, renamed it Wie-Gates and ran it for a couple of years.  After her retirement, she worked many part time jobs from WalMart to Pinkerton Securities.

Her hobbies also included playing baseball and bowling.  She loved watching her favorite teams, the Brewers, the Packers and the Badgers.  She was a great cook and also made many special dishes for family gatherings.  She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary.  

Survivors include seven of her sisters: Ginny (Kenneth) Leitner, Romaine (Gordon) Bruggink, Diana (Robert) Multer, Antoinette (Gerald) Meyer, Lois (Donald) Herzog, Kris (William) Brieger, Michelle (David) Oostdyk; and a brother-in-law: Dennis Quasius.  Her children: Kay Buris of New Mexico, Peggy (Steve) Rusch of Chilton, Jack (Gail) Gates of Kiel,  Sherri Gates of Kimberly and a son-in-law: Richard Baltz of Wausaukee.  24 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild with 2 more on the way.  She is further survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents: Irene & Anthony Hoerth; her in-laws: Jack and Helen Gates; a sister: Shirley Quasius; a daughter: Renee Baltz; a great grandson: Trent Rusch; a brother-in-law: Thomas Stecker; many aunts, uncles and other relatives.

A celebration of life for Arlene will be held at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, October 11, 2019.  Per her wishes, she was cremated.

The family wishes to thank the Homestead Care Facility for the care and compassion they showed to Mom and the family.  And a special thank you to Melissa from the Calumet County Hospice.  You are a very special lady. 
I am so sorry to hear of Arlene's passing . I grew up in the same fun neighborhood back in the good old days . I will always remember how beautiful Arlene looked she always took good care of herself . To Shari a big hug goes out to you loosing a mom is so very hard and hugs to the rest of Arlene's family also you have our deepest Sympathies .
