Arlene M Meier

Chilton WI

“Death leaves a heartache no one can steal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.”

Arlene M. Meier, age 82, of Chilton, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, at Ascension Calumet Hospital in Chilton, following a short battle with cancer. She was born September 2, 1942, the first of five children to Sylvester and Florence (Veit) Arenz.

Arlene grew up in Chilton, Wisconsin. She attended grade school at St. Mary Catholic School and then went on to earn her diploma from Chilton High School. In her childhood and young adult years, she helped work on the family farm and helped look after her siblings. On October 3, 1964, Arlene married Benedict Meier at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton. Over the next few years, they welcomed two children into their family; Stephen and Linda. Arlene stayed at home to raise their children until the time she went to work at Dairy Queen in Chilton where she remained for over 23 years. After her retirement from Dairy Queen, she drove for the ARDC (Aging & Disability Resource Center) as a volunteer until her health deteriorated. Arlene enjoyed her involvement with the ARDC and all the wonderful people she met and friendships she made.

God guided her hardworking hands in the love of her faith, family, friends and community. Arlene’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved hosting family dinners, holidays, and gatherings. Everyone was always welcome at Arlene’s table. She loved spending her days volunteering for the ARDC, playing bingo and visiting with family and friends.

Arlene is survived by her children: Stephen (Debra) Meier and Linda Jensen (significant other, Joseph Bravatto, III); her grandchildren: Chris (Gayle) Uttech, Dylan Radder, Blake Meier, and Aaliyah Jensen; and three great-grandchildren. She is further survived by one brother: Kenneth (Arleen) Arenz; one sister: Karen (Gerry) Damgard; and two sisters-in-law: Rosie Meier and Margaret Voss; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful friends.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Benedict Meier; her parents, Sylvester and Florence Arenz; her mother- and father-in-law: Anton and Margaret Meier; two brothers: Daniel Arenz and Dennis Arenz; five brothers-in-law: Walter Loehr, Donald Diedrich, Edward Meier, Melvin Meier, and Brother Raymond Meier; and two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Diedrich and Marion Loehr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 am on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton, with Fr. Carl Diedrich presiding. Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wedensday, July 23, 2025, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton, and from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the funeral home. A vigil prayer service will take place at the funeral home following Wednesday evening’s visitation.

Arlene’s family would like to express their heart-felt appreciation to the Chilton Ambulance Service, the wonderful staff at Ascension. Calumet Hospital and Calumet County Hospice.

I will always Remember Arlene as the woman you wanted to have take your order at Dairy Queen, always had a smile on her face, and her laugh??. Then always seeing Benny and Arlene at mom’s annual NH parade party. They were always together, that is some kind of love. Arlene was a great mother, friend, aunt, grandma, great grandmother, she will be dearly missed, but she is reunited with the love of her life. Benny and Arlene will be the angels watching over Steve, You, Dylan and Blake. Keep the memories close to your heart??. Love to you all. May God’s love rest upon you everyday.
