Arthur J Moehn
Chilton, WI

Arthur J. “Art” Moehn, age 85, of Chilton died peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh with his wife and daughter by his side.  He was born October 18, 1935 in Stockbridge, son of the late Matthew “Matt” & Magdelena (Kloepel) Moehn.

He was born and raised in Stockbridge and following his graduation from Stockbridge High School, Art joined the United States Marine Corps and was proud to be a top Sharp Shooter within his division.  Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the area and met the love of his life, Doris Karls at Calumet Medical Center.  The couple married on April 15, 1961 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho.

Art and Doris farmed together, side by side, beginning in 1961 until semi-retiring in 1991 when the farm was transitioned to their son.  It was at this time that Art and Doris traveled more frequently throughout the United States and the world, but Art especially enjoyed his time spent in Branson, Missouri.

Art served 18 years on the Town Board of Stockbridge and loved to snowmobile throughout the countryside and, once, through Yellowstone National Park.  He looked forward to good games of cards with family and friends, especially Sheepshead and Cribbage, and Art also bowled for the Men’s League at Pla-Mor Lanes in Chilton for a number of years.  In retirement, Art took up the hobby of golf and could frequently be found at Hickory Hills Country Club in Chilton.  Although it was his dream, Art was never able to sink a hole in one because of his left handed slice.

Above all else, Art cherished his family and his faith.  He was a devout Christian and life long member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge.  Nothing brought him more joy than to be around and share time with those he loved the most.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of over 59 years: Doris; his children: Sheryl (Tom) Kiesner, Daniel (Jennifer) Moehn, Keith (Rose) Moehn, Bruce (Tina) Moehn, Brian (Connie) Moehn, Jeff (Michelle) Moehn; 16 grandchildren: Amy (Matt) Loose, Kim (Matt) Guelig, Jessica Moehn, Ethan (Sydney) Moehn, Grace Moehn, Brandon Moehn, Nathan Moehn, Austin Moehn, Adam (Alexandria) Moehn, Joshua Moehn, Ashley (Dennis) Volkmann, Tyler Moehn, Aaron (Esme) Moehn, Marissa Moehn, Jenna Moehn, & Mariah Moehn; 2 great grandchildren with 2 more arriving soon: Brynligh Loose &  Charlotte Volkmann; his siblings: Matthew Moehn, Hellen Lucey, Gerald (Pat) Moehn, & Carol (Richard) Mueller and his faithful furry companion: Trixie.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Art was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings: Lucille, Luella, George, Harold, Clifford & Mary.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Monday, February 22, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church (Military Road) in Stockbridge with Rev. Michael Betley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, February 21, 2021 and on Monday at the Church from 9:30 am until 10:45 am.  There will be a vigil service at the close of the visitation on Sunday at the Wieting Family Funeral Home.  Those who wish may watch a live stream of the service or view flowers given by clicking HERE as more information becomes available.  There will also be an archived video to be watched in the future.
