Our dearest Uncle Art, his love, kindness, generosity and humor had a profound effect on family and friends galore. This is the legacy is left us.
In 1964 my father, Robert, died. He and Uncle Art were the best of brothers. I remember Uncle Art, Aunt Betty and my mother were standing on the staircase in the Chilton home. My eight year old sister, Kay, climbed the stairs and asked, "Uncle Art, can I call you Daddy?" He quietly replied,"Yes, you can. You can call me Daddy." How did my tiny little sister know this is what we all needed?
Our summer house was 105 E. Grand Street where Kay and I played with cousins. All playing stopped when we saw Uncle Art walking home from the bank. We raced towards him and proudly escorted him home.
Fast forward to 1991 when my husband, Markus, met the Chilton Hugos. He, too, witnessed the man my uncle was to all.
Whenever Markus and I face a dilemma we ask each other, "What would Uncle Art do?" He remains our moral compass and is forever in our hearts.

Our condolences to your family on the passing of your dad. I have many fond memories of serving with Art in the Chilton Kiwanis Club for many years. I always admired him for his character and values. He definitely made his mark on the Chilton community with his many years of service. He will be missed. May God keep your family in His care as you celebrate your dad's life. Sincerely, Tom & Linda Cullen

My favorite memory of Uncle Art, was what it felt like to me the first time coming to chilton a few years back for a family reunion, and how much he made me feel welcomed into his home, and when he would tell me stories about my grandmother and my mother. I always felt so comfortable and really always felt so nice. I am so thankful that I was able to get to know such a wonderful and generous person. R.I.P Uncle Art
