Audrey Marietta Volp, 100, of Stockbridge, died on September 21, 2018, at Libby’s House in Chilton. She was born January 14, 1918, daughter of Orville and Anna (Meier) Head. On December 30, 1947, she married Richard Volp at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stockbridge, and together they celebrated 65 years of marriage before his death in 2012.

Audrey attended two years of Normal School and went on to earn a teaching degree at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. After graduating, Audrey taught in Brothertown, Hilbert Elementary, and retired from Stockbridge Elementary after 53 years of service. She was proud to be the editor and publisher of the Stockbridge Alumni Newspaper following her retirement.

Audrey enjoyed traveling and gardening, and going to fish fries with Richard, even though she didn’t like fish. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stockbridge almost her entire life.

Audrey is survived by her sister, Beatrice Hoelzel, and many nieces and nephews.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents, Orville and Anna; her siblings: Marcel (Clarice) Head, Jerome (Loretta) Head, Jim Head, Jeanette Head, and Grace (Donald) Ortlieb; and a brother-in-law: Gilbert Hoelzel.

The family would like to thank the staff at Libby’s House and the Calumet County Hospice Nursesfor their excellent care. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Carol Wolf for checking on Audrey and bringing her food throughout the years, as well as her neighbors, Rich and Gail Thiel, for all of their help and care.
