Bernadette Katherine “Betty” Moehn, age 82, of Stockbridge, died on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Westhaven in Brillion.  She was born October 14, 1935 in the Town of Brothertown, daughter of the late Clemens & Margaret (Heimermann) Buechel.

Betty met George when he would come in to Hermie’s during lunch to order a malt.  He was so smitten by Betty that he continued to come for malts.  They eventually found moments to go out dancing together, and as they say, the rest was history.  Betty and George were married on May 2, 1959 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Chilton and they farmed together in the Town of Stockbridge where she also utilized the help of her children to raise a very large garden. Betty was also employed by Tecumseh in New Holstein for 10 years, worked as a lunch lady at St. Mary Catholic School and worked part time at the Eagle’s Club in Chilton.

She was well known for her green thumb and canned 300-400 jars of pickles every year.  Betty also was a wine maker and made sauerkraut in large crocks.  As an expert baker, Betty would make home made bread every Saturday morning and her dozens and dozens of Christmas Cookies every year were legendary.

In her free time, Betty enjoyed rousing games of Sheepshead, tending to her many crafts including ceramics and crocheting and time spent with her family.

Survivors include her children: Terry (Kathy) Moehn, Vicki (Luke) Schneider, Alan (Jane) Moehn, Jerry (Julie) Moehn, Lannette (Mike) Diederichs, Anne (Chuck) Lisowe, June (Duane) McKinney; 17 grandchildren: Jason Moehn and his special friend Courtney, Jeremy Moehn, Nicole (Travis) Schwarz, Ashley & Kyle Schneider, Beth Moehn & her special friend Noah, Patrick & Benjamin Moehn, Nick & Eric Moehn, Justin Diederichs, Amber Lisowe, Brianne Lisowe and her fiancé Jeremy Johnson, Logan & Jacob Lisowe, Zachary & Alexandria McKinney; her two sisters: Christine (Allen) Halbach & Veronica Heinrichs; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Joe Propson, Alvin Propson, Donna Buechel, LaVerne Buechel, Matt (Sylvia) Moehn, Eileen Moehn, Helen Lucey, Florence Moehn, Art (Doris) Moehn, Gerald (Pat) Moehn & Carol (Dick) Mueller.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband: George, her parents, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge with Rev. Michael Betley officiating.  Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 and on Thursday at the church from 9:30 am until 10:45 am.  There will be a vigil service Wednesday evening at the funeral home at the close of the visitation.
My condolences to your family for your loss of a pretty special lady! I really go to know Betty when we worked together at the g'stat. That gal could sure make you laugh. I miss that.
