Bernard F. “Bernie” Geiser, age 79, of Chilton, died on January 15, 2020, at his residence. He was born October 1, 1940, son of the late Victor and Hildegard Geiser. On February 24, 1979, he married Patricia McAfee.

Bernie was a hard-working family man; farming and his family were his whole life. His wife remembers him as a sweetheart of a man and his children say he was a great father. He enjoyed helping others and visiting people. He was a good listener and never passed judgment, keeping his opinion to himself except when he could offer helpful advice. Farming led him to enjoy custom corn planting and plowing, and he often worked until midnight. When he could take a break he enjoyed bowling and taking bus trips to casinos.

Bernie also made generous efforts to help his community. He was a past president of the Eagles Club, past commander of VFW Post 3153, and past president of the County Farm Bureau. He was on the parish council for St. Augustine’s and served on the town board for Charlestown.

Bernie is survived by his wife, Pat; children: Mary Jeanty, Cynthia Geiser, Lora Woelfel, Nicholas (Wendy) Geiser, and Patrick (Jennifer) Geiser; a step-son: Michael McAfee; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister: Roseanne (Dotty Matthews) Geiser; brothers: Roman (Carol) Geiser, Dennis (Marion) Geiser, David (Deb Reinhart) Geiser, Charlie (Judy) Geiser, and Paul (Marge) Geiser; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Hildegard; and two brothers: Eugene Geiser and Daniel Geiser.

A funeral service is set for 5:00pm on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call from 1:00pm until 4:45pm at the funeral home on the day of service. Military honors will be observed following the service. Bernie will be laid to rest at 10:00am on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Knollwood Memorial Park (1500 WI 310) in Manitowoc.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Calumet County Hospice, Willowdale Nursing Home, Ascension Calumet Hospital, and St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Our sympathy to you Pat and the Geiser family. He served his community very well. May he rest in peace.
