Bernice B Ninedorf

Chilton WI

Bernice Beatrice Ninedorf, age 93, passed away peacefully on June 29th, 2024 at Abridge Care Center in Chilton.  She was born August 29th, 1930 in Stockbridge Township, one of twin girls, to Della and Edgar Schafer.  She grew up in the Gravesville area of Chilton and married the boy next door, Eugene 'Tunney' Ninedorf on January 24th, 1948.  They had 5 children, Daniel, Dennis, Ronald, Lynn and James, and raised their family there.

Bernice was a long term member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, and American Legion Auxiliary Post 125.  She and her husband were active with their family in the Irish Road 4-H Club, and she was the 'co-pilot' for the  antique cars that Tunney restored, assisting with reupholstery, and finding the appropriate period clothing.  They were active in the Flying Quail Model A club.

In 1975 they finished building and moved into their country home on Weeks Rd. and Bernice lived there until 2022.  She always had a big garden and lots of flowers around her house, including 1 rose bush that she was gifted early in her marriage and had for over 50 years. Bernice was always 'crafty', and took many classes for sewing, pottery, painting and eventually along with Tunney settled into woodcarving. They were active in the Kettle Karvers club and carved hundreds of different  projects, frequently doing the same design and comparing their work.  They also took classes together in folk painting, and decorated old saw blades and other craft items with their designs.

Bernice is survived by her children: Dan Ninedorf, Ron (Elda) Ninedorf,  Lynn Selle, and Jim Ninedorf; daughter-in-law: Daisy Ninedorf; 12 granddhildren: LaTrisha, Michael, Benjamin, Christina, Vikki and Katie, Kimberly, Ryan, Abbie and Kelsie Ninedorf, and Heather and Derek Selle; 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great- grandchild; nieces, a nephew, and lifelong friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; her son: Dennis Ninedorf; son-in-law: Jeffrey Selle; her parents, and infant twin sister, Bernadine; her sister, Ruth and brother-in-law, Lester Fye; her brother, William, and sister-in-law, Eva Schafer; and by sisters and brothers-in-law: Betty and Keith Brown, Lola and Ralph Owens, Dick and Roberta Ninedorf, Ed and Viola Ninedorf, Carl and Mary Ninedorf; and brothers-in-law: Frederick and Donald Ninedorf.

For the past 2 years Bernice has made her home at Abridge Care Center and was grateful for the community and care received there.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday July 13 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton with Rev. Dr. David Kohls officiating.  Visitation will precede the service at the funeral home from 9-10:45 a.m. that morning.  Burial will be at the Charlestown Union Cemetery.  At the time of service and following, there will be a link available for those wishing to watch a live stream of the service, watch a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family on their website page provided through wietingfuneralhome.com

It is so great seeing caregiver comments!! ("Kitchen Lady", "Mr Fix It", ... she had nicknames for all of you!) I asked my dad (Ron) how others living there were going to get their candy fix now as she was the giver/sneaker. Thank you to you all for the support you've provided! Grandma is now back with Pa/Toony and resting easy.
