Beverly J Beard

Chilton WI

Beverly J. Beard, age 80, of Chilton, died at her home on October 9, 2024. She was born on January 10, 1944, in Watertown, WI, daughter of the late Robert and Evelyn (Baars) Wolfgram. She graduated from Lakeside Lutheran High School in 1962, and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN, in 1966.

Beverly married her first husband, James Luchterhand, in 1970, and together they had two daughters, Ann and Jody. James preceded Beverly in death in 1999.

Beverly taught in parochial schools in  Minnesota before teaching in Hilbert in 1978, where she taught in a multi-level classroom including science and music for most of the school until 1985. She continued working in different positions for several companies until 2009.

In August of 2009, Beverly married Franklin Beard on their front lawn. Her family grew larger with Frank’s children, step-children, and grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Beverly’s faith was a pillar of her character, starting with her baptism in 1944, extending past her confirmation in 1958, until her passing. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, organist, pianist, choir director, handbell ringer, and piano and organ instructor.

Beverly is survived by her husband, Frank; her daughters: Rev. Ann Marie (Goertz, Joyce) Luchterhand and Jody Jean (Brian) Schwoerer; Frank’s children: Amber (Russell) Sprangers and Zachary Beard; Frank’s stepchildren: Shennandoah (Rev. Jon) Ditter, Yvette (Rev. John) Lehman, and Shiloh Schlesner; grandchildren:  Gerald (Amanda) Joyce III, Jacob Goertz (fiancee, Emmalee Oakley), Emily (Vincent) Ponti; Frank’s grandchildren: Layla Rose Quella, Lucy Sprangers, Liza Sprangers, Ariana Woychek, Athena Beard, Jacob Beard, Isaac Ditter, Kendra Ditter, Seth Ditter, Gideon Ditter, Phineas Lehman, Lyric Schlesner, Harper Schlesner, and Piper Schlesner; great-grandchildren: Liam Joyce, Athena Joyce, Kailee Joyce, Kaden Copling, Callen Joyce, and Adalynn Joyce; Frank’s siblings: Lisa Darling, Stewart Beard, and Holly (Michael) Montenegro; and many nieces and nephews. Their home was also frequently visited by many special friends, extended family, and family of heart members.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Evelyn; and a grandson never born: James Schwoerer.

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 pm on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at St. Peter Lutheran Church (43 N. 3rd St.) in Hilbert, with Pastor Mark Peterson officiating. Friends may call from 2:30 pm until 4:15 pm at the church on the day of service. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available for those wishing to watch a live stream or archived recording of the service, watch a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family on their website page provided through wietingfuneralhome.com

Rest in peace my dear friend. So many fond memories of you and Jim when we were all so young. Seems like just yesterday I was holding Annie on my lap so you guys could look at the newest treasured antiques my Dad brought home. The best memory was when you guys showed up at our wedding in your old car to drive us around. Priceless! Thanks for the laughs, the love and the wonderful memories. Give those boys a hug for me when you get to heaven!
