Calvin J Casper

Chilton WI

Calvin J. Casper, age 23, of Chilton, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Froedtert Medical Center in Wauwatosa with his family at his side.  He was born January 25, 2000 in Appleton, son of David & Kelly (Roehrig) Casper.

Calvin was a Chilton High School Graduate, class of 2018 and attended UW-Eau Claire where he graduated with a double major in Accounting and Finance this past May.  Following his graduation, Calvin began working in accounting for Mativ Paper, formerly known as Neenah Paper. During his time at CHS, Calvin was a proud member of the golf, cross country, and basketball teams.

He was a lifelong member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and was actively involved with Jesus and Company throughout his youth.  Calvin always brought a calming sense to a room and knew how to keep conversations light and humorous. Although typically quiet, when Calvin spoke people listened because there was a good chance there would be a quick and funny one liner on its way.

He enjoyed time in the great outdoors fishing, sturgeon spearing, hunting and having a cold one with his friends.  He was humble and kind and often went out of his way to help those around him, especially when it came to remodel projects, vehicle repairs and yard work. But don’t think he didn’t know how to have fun. Often described as the king of yard games, he was a sought-after teammate because you knew you were going to be on the winning side and have fun doing it. He also enjoyed the solitude of shooting hoops in his driveway with his dog, Ella, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his parents: Dave & Kelly; his siblings: Brett (Rachel) Casper, Sami Casper and her boyfriend, Eric Bush; his nephew and godchild: Emmett Casper; his maternal grandparents: Jim & Shirley Roehrig; his paternal grandparent: Marlys Casper; his aunts and uncles: Troy Roehrig, Mindy (Tom) Wagner, Becky (Cory) Kraus, Dan (Kelly) Casper, Joan (Terry) Braun, Paul (Mary) Casper, Sandy (Bruce) Schneider, Lois (Chris) Leitner, Mary Jo (Rick) Weber, Bob (Stacy) Casper; and his four-legged companion: Ella.  He is further survived by cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather: Bernie Casper; and his cousins: Kevin Schneider and Charlee Leitner.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare professionals at St. Elizabeth in Appleton, UW Health in Madison and Froedtert in Wauwatosa for the immense support and collaboration given to Calvin who often times went above and beyond their duties as care givers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 am on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with Rev. Jon Thorson and Rev. Ryan Krueger officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Chilton.  A time of visitation will be held at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, October 1, 2023 and again on Monday at the funeral home from 9:30 am until 11:00 am.  There will be a parish vigil service held on Sunday evening at the funeral home following the visitation.

At the time of the service and following, there will be a link availabile above for those wishing to watch a live stream or archived recording of the service, watch a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family.
