Carol A Marx

Hilbert WI

Carol A. Marx, age 83, of Hilbert, died on Friday, October 17, 2025 at St. Paul Elder Home in Kaukauna with her loving family by her side.  She was born February 10, 1942 in Hilbert, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Oscar & Veronica (Nilles) Pruess.  On June 30, 1962, Carol married Roman Marx at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert; he preceded her in death on April 11, 2000.

As a young mother, Carol devoted her life and every fiber of her being to the care of her family, especially her 4 children.  Once they were grown, Carol transitioned back into the workforce as a cook for the Hilbert School District where she remained until her health would no longer allow.

Carol treasured her Catholic heritage and lived her faith daily.  She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert where she also was a member of the Christian Mothers.  Each week, Carol could be found spending time at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel in Chilton where she would spend quiet hours with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

As a woman who had a deep appreciation for music, Carol thoroughly enjoyed a night out Polka Dancing with her husband as they moved across the dance floor.  Together, they were longtime members of the We Love to Polka Dance Club which was nestled in the center of Kloten.

Carol will fondly be remembered as a wonderful human being who always found the brightest spots in life.  Even through a 40 year battle with MS, Carol maintained her deep faith in God, and a warm, sweet smile that brightened up every room she entered.  Above all else, she loved being around her family.  She especially looked forward to attending her grandchildren’s extracurricular activities and the special moments in each of their lives.

Survivors include her children: Lisa Liebzeit, Lynn (Dan) Haen, Lori (Tim) Ashauer, James Marx and his significant other, Becky Bornemann; her grandchildren: Melanie (Jesse) Dohr, Stephanie (Pete) Stephany, Ridge Liebzeit, Ashley Haen and her significant other, Tom Eiting, Travis (Maggie) Haen, Dominic (Morgan) Haen, Amber Haen and her significant other, Sam Cropsey, Adam Ashauer, Alexander Ashauer and his significant other, Katelyn Mueller, Katelyn (Jeremy) Maves, Sawyer Bornemann, Hadley Bornemann and her fiancé Sam Kuchta; 18 great grandchildren with another arriving soon; her siblings: Marie Hauser, Janice Marx, Alan (Sherry) Pruess; and her sisters-in-law: Mary Pruess, Irene Uitenbroek.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Roman Marx; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Jacob & Rose Marx; her siblings: Arthur (Magdalen) Pruess, Donald Pruess; and her brothers-in-law: Harold Hauser, Melvin Marx, Arthur Marx and Denis Uitenbroek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. Mary Catholic Church (108 S. 6th St.) in Hilbert with Rev. Michael Betley officiating.  Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.  A time of visitation will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 9:00 am until 10:45 am.  At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available above for those wishing to watch a livestream or archived recording of the service, view a memorial video or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to St. Paul Elder Home for the love and compassion that was given to their mother, along with the hospice team that cared for her in the final days to her eternal home.
