Charles H. “Chuck” Westenberger, age 87 of Stockbridge and “Up-North” died on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at his home in the Town of Brothertown.  He was born March 29, 1933 in Stockbridge, son of the late Arthur & Annabel (Ludeke) Westenberger.  

Chuck devoted prime years of his life serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War on the USS Chilton.  Following his honorable discharge, Chuck married Marion Broehm in 1954 and the couple owned and operated the Black Cat and the Fish Tail Inn in Stockbridge.  He also drove truck for Hedrick’s Trucking in Red Granite and worked as a carpenter having built his own homes and cabinets throughout the years.

He was a member of the Stockbridge American Legion Club, a lifetime member of the Brickyard Fishing Club and the Wisconsin Tavern League.  Chuck enjoyed the quiet and relaxation of fishing, especially Sturgeon Spearing and creating hand made works of art through his cabinetry and wood working projects.  

Survivors include his children: Sue (Joe) Hansen, Randy Westenberger, Richard “Dick” (Cindy) Westenberger, Marv Westenberger and his special friend, April; 5 grandchildren: Steve (Sarah) Hansen, Ben Hansen, Emily (Chris) Eibs, Breanna (Steve) Hinkelmeier, Caitlyn Westenberger and her special friend, Nick Hanna; 7 great grandchildren: Rachel, Leo, Karissa, Weston, Emerson, Zander & Mason; his siblings: Paul Westenberger, Robert Westenberger, & Diane Genal; sisters-in-law: Gen Kiefer, Mary Boehm & Monica Westenberger; and a special niece: Jennifer Schaefer.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Marion; his siblings: Phil Westenberger, Marvin Westenberger; siblings-in-law: Dorothy (Herman)  Hemauer, Norman Kiefer, Cliff (Letha) Broehm, Bob Broehm, Allison Westenberger & Carl “Butch” Genal.

Family services are taking place, and burial will be in the Portland Cemetery.  

Chuck’s family would like to thank Bill and Kris Hansen for the loving care and time that they had devoted, making sure that his last days were comfortable.
