Christine M Kuehnl

Chilton WI

Christine M. Kuehnl, age 64 of Chilton, died on Friday, April 3, 2026 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. She was born April 5, 1961 in Chilton, daughter of Patricia (Hoerth) Woelfel and the late Peter J. Woelfel.

While at a house party one winter in high school, Christine met Richard Kuehnl and the couple fell in love instantly. She graduated from Chilton High School, class of 1979 and on August 9, 1980 she married Richard at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton.

After high school, she began her working career as a teller at the State Bank of Chilton. It was here that she really began to realize her organizational skills. She put those skills to good use as a secretary at Marmon Keystone in the Valley before she began working for Kaytee Products in Chilton. Later in her career, she transitioned those skills to Endries in Brillion until her retirement.

Holidays throughout the year brought Christine so much joy because it was another reason to get the family together to laugh, share stories, and eat delicious meals. She especially loved Christmas because she could set up her Christmas Village which she could show off to everyone who would visit.

Throughout much of her life, she tended to her garden and raised various veggies which she canned and utilized throughout the year. She also had countless flowers in the beds throughout her yard as well as flower pots that were around her home. Working at Kaytee was also a blessing to her so she could feed the many different kinds of birds that flocked to her yard.

When she wasn’t yelling at her TV for her beloved Green Bay Packers, Christine would sit down and play any number of games, especially Yahtzee, with family or friends or lovingly care for her guinea pigs. She also looked forward to road trips to Door County with her husband, Richard. She especially looked forward to catching the fall colors at the perfect time of the year. She always said that the best colors were found at the very tip of Door County in Gills Rock, but it was entirely possible she just wanted to go to her favorite smokehouse, Charlie’s, and savor their smoked fish. She also thoroughly enjoyed going on bus bingo trips with her beloved family.

Survivors include her husband: Richard; her mother: Patricia; her children: Jason (Chani) Kuehnl, USMC Retired, Justin Kuehnl, Jordan (Maggie) Kuehnl; her grandchildren: Abby, Jayda, & Landon Kuehnl; her siblings: Michael (Dawn) Woelfel, Brian Woelfel, Cheryl (Kevin) Tungate, Bob (Susan) Woelfel; siblings-in-law: Daniel Hauser, Patricia Muehlbauer, Karen Sukowatey, Ken (Eileen) Kuehnl, Jane (Ed) Stephani, Mary (Darrell) Rauwerdink.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father: Pete; her parents-in-law: Ervin & Loraine Kuehnl; her sister: Janet Hauser; and her brother-in-law: Francis Muehlbauer.

Funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton.  Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Jericho.  A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 11:15 am on Thursday, April 9, 2026.  At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available above for those wishing to watch a livestream or archived recording of the funeral service, view a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Agnesian Dialysis Services (305 Camelot Dr, Fond du Lac), St. Agnes Hospital Fond du Lac, Calumet County ADRC Transportation Program, and Calumet County's Sheriff's Department, ambulance service, and first responders. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, or the Eastshore Humane Society.

I am so sorry to hear of Chris’s passing. She was a classmate of mine and co-worker at State Bank of Chilton. I remember, back in my school days, our friend Amy, and I would ride our bikes out to short road by Chris and spend a day on the farm. She will certainly be sadly missed.

Kathy Burg (Friend and classmate ) 2026-04-07 07:29:37

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Chris. I had the pleasure of getting to know her over the years as Jordan's friend. She was always kind and accommodating whenever I would visit, and she was genuinely interested in getting to know everyone better. It was especially nice spending time together during Jordan's wedding preparations in 2023-24, and I'll always remember those moments. She was also a valued customer at my mom's bank for many years. My deepest condolences to Jordan, Richard, Justin, Jason, and your families during this time.
