Christine M Schwobe

New Holstein WI

Christine M. Schwobe, age 66, of New Holstein, died on Friday, October 4, 2024 at the Homestead Care Center in New Holstein.  She was born December 8, 1957 in Chilton, daughter of the late Donald A. & Dorothy (Toth) Schwobe.

Chris graduated from Chilton High School in 1976 and attended Fox Valley Technical College.

Chris was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and volunteered to read scripture at mass.  With her love of music, Chris also played trombone for the Chilton City Band.

In her free time, she looked forward to games of Bingo and traveling to the casino with her mom and her Godmother, Donna Mortimer.  Chris would never pass up an opportunity to play a round of Sheepshead.  With a passion for the game of baseball, she followed her beloved Milwaukee Brewers very closely each and every season and could frequently be found playing Solitaire with the game playing in the background.  With an enjoyment for socializing, Chris liked her morning coffee with friends at the 7 Angels Restaurant in Chilton.

Her family meant the world to her, and she absolutely adored her nieces and nephews and in recent years cherished the great nieces and nephews who brought her so much joy.

She is survived by her siblings: John (Linda) Schwobe, Barbara (David) Miller, Joanne Schwobe, Bill Schwobe, David Schwobe and his partner, Robert Bill; her nieces and nephews: Terri (Jim) Rockhill, Dustin (Martha) Schwobe, Megan (Andy) VanHoorn, Chad (Jaime) Miller, Elizabeth (Jason) Luis, Curt (Amy) Miller, Ryan Schwobe and his special friend, Kirsten Donkle; and her great nieces and nephews: Henry, Nora, Natalie, Eliza, August, Blake, Brooklyn, Zoey, Sloane, Nora, Ivy and another arriving soon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal grandparents: John & Elizabeth Toth; her paternal grandparents: Tony & Molly Schwobe; and her Godmother: Donna Mortimer; and her Godfather: Joe “Doc” Schlaefer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 pm on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with Rev. Jon Thorsen officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Chilton.  A time of visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 am until 12:15 pm on Friday, October 11, 2024.  At the time of the service and following, a link will be available above for those wishing to watch a livestream or archived recording of the service, watch a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family.

Chris’s family would like to extend a warm ‘Thank You’ to Chris’s dear friend Lynn Margenau and all of her friends who lent an ear to Chris when she called.

Condolences

My heart has been heavy since learning of Chris’ passing as I know that her family and other friends are feeling much the same way. My friendship with Chris began in 4th grade at St Mary’s. I have vivid memories of the 2 of us playing on the playground and helping each other in the classroom. I always enjoyed going to the Schwobe homestead for sleepovers and play dates. I guess this is an odd thing to remember, but I always enjoyed driving through Zarnoth’s woods to get to Chris’ home. One of my favorite things to do was to play in the barn amidst the hay and grain. Then, too, I vividly remember when the barn burned down and how concerned I was for Chris and the whole family. Chris was always good at being present for others. For example she came to my Mother’s funeral which I appreciated immensely. Sometime there after we reconnected over FB and then we began visiting on the phone. I always remember how excited she was when her niece and great niece would come home for their summer visit. Liz(?) and her baby were very special to Chris. I could see her smiling broadly over the phone when she spoke of them. I will miss Chris and her phone calls to check in on me. I pray for peace and solace for her family and all those that loved her.

Dear Schwobe family, We are saddened to learn of the passing of Chris. I have many fond childhood memories of our families’ get togethers at your farm. Graduation parties, tractor rides to the pond and newborn kittens in the barn to mention a few. Our mothers being best friends made me feel a special kinship to your family. Chris was always kind and welcoming to us. She will always have a place in my heart. Please accept our sincere condolences. ?? Cheryl and Dave

My heart is saddened by the recent passing of Chris. She was a caring soul who loved to make jigsaw puzzles, listen to music, and visit. I have many fond memories of Chris during her senior year at CHS when she sang in the Girls Glee Club and later as she remained a caring friend. Her love for her family was beyond measure. Chris was always eager to update me with news of her nieces, nephews and of course, the new babies! We often talked about her family and how difficult it was for her at the loss of her parents, especially her mother. I pray for her peace, as Chris has found her eternal home with our heavenly Father, reunited with her loved ones. My sincere condolences to her family and friends who will hold the memories of Chris in their hearts forever. Rest in peace, my friend.

Chris and I were friends since second grade. We have so many good memories. So many laughs over crazy things we did. I loved our sleepovers at the farm. Chris, I'm sure your mom was there to greet you. Fly free, dear friend. Your pain and suffering has ended. My condolences to the family.

To Chris’s family, I am so very sorry for your loss. Chris and I had a very nice visit at the 2016 class reunion. I was saddened by the trouble she was having healthwise at that time already. The only comfort we can get is that she is now resting in the Arms of our Lord and no longer suffering. May God comfort you all during this sad time.
