Clarence M Schneider
Chilton WI
Clarence M. Schneider, age 95, of Chilton died on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. He was born on June 2, 1931 to the late Jacob and Veronica (Schmitt) Schneider. He met the love of his life, Eileen M. Sprangers at the Cinderella Ballroom in Appleton. They shared 70 years of marriage together, until Eileen was called home in 2021.
Clarence was a proud hard working farmer since 1952. Having moved to the family homestead in 1959, he raised and cared for his family, and lived there until his last few days.
Clarence and Eileen were always together, attending dances, members of the Calumet County Snow Trails, snowmobiling, driving around the country side, going out to dinner, and doing the things they loved. During the last few years, you could spot Clarence in his John Deere side by side checking in and visiting with his children and grandchildren, looking at the fields and the crops that grew. When it was dinner time you could find Clarence and daughter Terri visiting many of his favorite local restaurants. Throughout the warmer months, Clarence could certainly be found Friday evenings at Gravity Park which was one of his most favorite places to be.
A round of Sheepshead always caught Clarence’s attention; he would look forward to sitting around the table with his kids or grandkids. They all learned at a very early age that you held out your cards too far, it was a guarantee he was going to look at what you had in your hand. He had a sharp mind for cards and always knew what had been played and in each cleared pile. Clarence also looked forward to deer hunting and sturgeon spearing. He always managed to get out to the lake when ice was ready and get to his sturgeon shack, even at the age of 95, he never missed a beat.
Clarence will be missed by his children: Bob (Jackie) Schneider, Judy Schneider, David (Wanda) Schneider, Terri Schneider, Ken (Debbie) Schneider, Rick (Barb) Schneider, Andy (Connie) Schneider, Elroy Schneider, Casey (Pam) Schneider, and Harvey (Lisa) Schneider; many grandchildren, and many many great-grandchildren; siblings-in-law: Chris, Sharon, Kayleen Schneider, and Ronald Preissner, Lois (Raymond) Schrieber, Linda Sprangers, and Mary Sprangers; his Godchildren; many friends at Gravity Park, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eileen; grandchildren: Jason Schneider, Mary Ann & Nicole Schneider, Christopher, Nicole, Carleen, and Andre Schneider; his brothers, William (Phyllis), Frederick, Gordon, Leo (Alice), Ervin, Kathryn, Gerald, Eugene, Alvin, Harold, Lorraine (Melvin) Lisowe, Elsie (George) Rahmer, and Arlene Preissner; siblings-in-law: Gin (Butch) Friebel, Lil (Leon) Hartzhiem, Ali (Mike) Schreiber, George Sprangers, and Fred Sprangers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Demos officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Chilton. A time of visitation will be at the Wieting Family Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 and again at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available above for those wishing to watch a livestream or archived recording of the service, view a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family.
A special thank you to David, Wanda, Eric, and Nichole for their extra care and comfort over the last couple weeks.

Grief is a complicated thing. We can be grateful for a long life and still mourn deeply when that life comes to an end. My uncle lived 95 years. A lifetime filled with experiences, relationships, challenges, joys, and love. What a remarkable gift that is. Yet even with that gratitude, it is impossible not to feel the sadness that comes with saying goodbye. For me, the loss feels complex because my uncle was also the last of my father's siblings. With his passing, it feels as though an entire chapter of our family story has come to a close. Aside from living spouses, he was the last living link to my father's generation. The last person who shared those childhood memories, family stories, and experiences that shaped the people who came before us. There is something profound about realizing that a generation has now completed its journey. I remember my dad once telling me that his older brother wasn't much of a hugger. Now, anyone who knows me knows that I'm a hugger. So naturally, I made it a point to hug him every chance I got. I'd wrap my arms around him and whisper, "Don't worry, it'll be over in a second." He would usually respond with a little smirk—a mixture of amusement, tolerance, and perhaps just a touch of resignation. But he never pushed me away. One of the last meaningful conversations I had with him was at a cousin's funeral. He looked at me and said, "I'm the last one." I answered, "Yes, you are. But maybe that's because you still have more to share with your kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids." He didn't say much. He simply nodded. Today, I thought about that moment often. I believe he understood something that not all of us may have realized. Being the last one wasn't simply about outliving everyone else. It was about carrying forward the memories, values, and stories of those who came before. It was about being a bridge between generations. And what a legacy that is. What a gift it can be to be the last one. My heart is heavy, but it is also hopeful. I choose to believe that my uncle is no longer the last one. I choose to believe that he has been reunited with his brothers and sisters, including my father. Whether that reunion exists in heaven, in some greater consciousness, or simply in the mystery beyond our understanding, the thought brings me peace. What remains here is the foundation they built. The lessons they taught. The traditions they created. The family they loved. The stories they shared. The laughter they gave us. And the countless ways they shaped our lives. My uncle's life reminds us that a person's legacy isn't measured only by the years they lived, but by the people they touched along the way. So, as we say goodbye to a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. We mourn his absence, but we celebrate his life. We hold tightly to our memories, and we carry his story forward. And for my part, I will always be grateful for every conversation, every visit, every family gathering, and yes—even every hug he reluctantly accepted. Rest easy, Uncle. Your chapter may have ended, but your story continues in all of us. You are remembered.
