Cleta J Woelfel
Chilton WI
Cleta J. Woelfel, age 91, of Chilton, died on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Abridge Care Facility in Chilton. She was born April 21, 1931 in Charlesburg, daughter of the late Roman & Veronica (Steiner) Keuler.
Cleta married Alphonse John “Al” Woelfel on April 25, 1950 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton.
She was a life long member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, formerly St. Augustine Parish, the VFW Auxiliary, the German American Society and the Chilton AC’s. It was through the many many years of running the food stand at the ball diamond that her delicious pickles became known as “Cleta Pickles” and were the garnish that topped nearly every sandwich served to patrons for over 20 years. In 2004, Cleta and Al were recognized as Chilton’s Citizens of the year for their efforts to make their community a great place to live. This honor was shared with their friends, Roger & Cheri Kolbe.
With a heart for children, Cleta opened her home and her heart to families looking for care for their young. This opportunity brought her joy as she was able to watch each and every child grow to be young adults.
Cleta was an avid fan of sports and passionately followed the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers if she wasn’t at the local ball diamond cheering on any and all Chilton teams. She tended to her vegetable garden and canned the fresh veggies collected each and every year. She was proud to have passed this legacy of gardening on to her children and grandchildren as they helped her tend to her garden, all the while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Her time spent with Al was always a blessing to her; she looked forward to travels around the country and bowling in league at Pla-Mor Lanes in Chilton.
She is survived by her son: Doug (Sarah) Woelfel; a daughter-in-law: Pam Woelfel; her grandchildren: Rachel Woelfel, Daniel (Laura) Woelfel, Cole Woelfel, Callie Woelfel and her special friend, Dylan Anhalt; brothers-in-law: Steve (Judy) Woelfel, Marvin Woelfel; and a sister-in-law: Pat Woelfel. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Al; an infant son and her son: Kevin Woelfel; her siblings: Glenroy (Alice) Keuler, Jerome Keuler, Bernice (Arno) Hertel; and a sister-in-law: Marion (Art) Fannin.
Funeral Service will be at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Burial will be in the St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Chilton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 am until 1:15 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Cleta’s family would like to thank Abridge Care Center and the Promidica Hospice for the love and care that have shown to both Cleta and her family.

Condolences
our sympathy to Cleta's family. Cleta was the flower girl and Art was the ring bearer for Emil and Theresa Steiner's wedding many years ago. May she rest in peace.
