Corey L. Mackai, age 50, of Stockbridge, died on June 25, 2020, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. He was born May 27, 1970, in Menomenee Falls, son of the late Edward and Arlene Mackai. He grew up in Nekoosa and proudly served in the United States Army. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Cardinal Stritch University and went on to become a Territory Sales Manager for the Emerson Process Measurement Company. On April 26, 2008, he married Tammy Caison Filipiak at the Medina Wedding Chapel and together they raised four children.

Corey spent much of his life in the Fox Valley, but eventually he and Tammy settled in Stockbridge, where he could enjoy some of his favorite activities. He joined the Brickyard Fishing Club and enjoyed his time on the water, whether it was fishing from a boat or an ice shanty. He started deer hunting as a kid and continued the tradition throughout his life.  Tammy was surprised that the tradition took place even on Thanksgiving Day.

Corey is survived by his wife, Tammy; his children: Justin (Sara) Ironside, Josephine Mackai, Jordan Filipiak, and Mitchell (Katie) Mackai; grandchildren: Noelle Ironside and Finley Mackai; siblings: John (Margaret) Mackai, Savanna Mackai, Celeste Reifshlager, and Scott Mackai; mother-in-law: Christine Caison; sisters-in-law: Kathy (Craig) Giddens and Robin Caison; and many nieces and nephews.

Corey was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Arlene; a brother: Clark Mackai; and Tammy’s father: Hiliary Caison.

People that met Corey would say he had the knack to connect with anyone and have meaningful conversations no matter who they were, he always had a smile on his face and was the life of the party. His children added that he always let them know he loved them, no matter what.

A celebration of Corey’s life will take place in the spring of 2021.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
We only met Corey through the sparkle in Tammy’s eye when she talked about him. We are deeply saddened by this loss! Hearts of sympathy to you Tammy and family.

Corey was a close high school friend. I enjoyed fishing with him on the lake his patents lived on. Many other memories not to be mentioned here. He will be missed
