Daniel Jonathon (Peeps) Piepenburg, age 67, passed away peacefully, at his home with his loving family by his side, after a long and courageous battle with Glioblastoma and then Pancreatic Cancer on August 24, 2026. He was born on August 12, 1959, in Potter, WI, to Eldor and Hazel (Schmidt) Piepenburg. Dan graduated from Hilbert High School in 1977. On August 2, 1997, he married Sherry Okler from Kingsford, MI, at the Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Kiel, WI.
After Dan graduated from High School, he went on to be an incredible pitcher for the Taus Baseball Team and traveled to many tournaments with some great friends. He cherished these friends (teammates) his entire life. Dan was also a very good bowler and was extremely proud to have won a 300 ring while in a tournament on TV in the early 80’s. Dan was also very proud to coach the Hilbert High School Boys Basketball Team in Hilbert, WI, and then went on to coach the Boys Basketball Team in Glenbeulah, WI. Dan also loved NASCAR, INDY, and especially Dirt Track Racing and you could count on Dan being in the stands watching the Sprint Cars races at Plymouth, WI every Saturday night.
Dan made numerous friends through his working days at Amerequip Corp. in New Holstein, WI, where he worked as a forklift driver for almost 25 years. After he left Amerequip Corp. he went on to be a CDL driver for Vern’s Cheese, Inc. for almost 14 years. He loved his truck driving job, the Vern’s family, and his customers from the surrounding Wisconsin areas of Green Bay, Sheboygan, and Madison. Dan was very sad that he had to retire sooner than he wanted to because of his Glioblastoma diagnosis and Craniotomies. He truly loved his job at Vern’s Cheese, Inc.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Sherry; a daughter: Kayla Piepenburg (Steve Miller) of Beloit, WI; 4 grandchildren that he adored: Talen, Jaxon, Kinsley, and Kierstyn Miller, all of Beloit, WI; brother: Tom (Berdine Ott) Piepenburg of Chilton, WI; sister: Karen (Bob) Nolan of New Holstein, WI; brother-in-law: Don Okler, Jr. (Sue Rose) from Kingsford, MI; sister-in-law: Tami Goyen of Iron Mountain, MI; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles that he thought the world of.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Eldor and Hazel Piepenburg; father-in-law: Donald Okler, Sr.; and mother-in-law: Shirley (Lusardi) Okler.
Dan and his family would like to thank the entire UW Health Madison Neuro-Oncology Team for their amazing care, treatment, and compassion during his 3 year Glioblastoma journey. We would also like to thank Neurosurgeon, Dr. Baskaya at UW Health Madison, for giving Dan an additional 2 years with us after he did Dan’s 2nd tumor removal. Also needing to be recognized is the amazing care that Dan received, his last 5 ½ weeks at home, with the Sharon Richardsons Community Hospice after being diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 31, 2026 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Burial will be in the Country View Cemetery in New Holstein. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 12:45 pm on Monday, August 31, 2026. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available above for those wishing to watch a livestream or archived recording of the service, view a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family.
