David J Pitzen
Malone WI
David J. Pitzen, 68, of Malone, died at his home on Monday, February 17, 2025. David was born on August 11, 1956 to Betty Pitzen Mueller and the late Arlin Pitzen.
On July 25, 1986, David married Jean Schaefer, with whom he raised three children. He was a devoted Kohler Company employee and worked in engine production for 43 years. David was a hardworking man and could often be found tinkering with various garage projects. He was known as the family’s fixer, and though he didn’t necessarily care about the aesthetics of his fixes, he certainly was resourceful. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors. He cherished his home on the east shore of Lake Winnebago, where he found joy in watching birds and other wildlife. David loved visits from his grandchildren, who happily endured his playful teasing, as they knew they would each be sent home with a bag full of Grandpa’s quarters.
David is survived by his wife, Jean; his three children, Travis (Jennifer) Pitzen, Sarah (Andrew) Burg, and April (Miles) Franzen; eight grandchildren, Allison, Anna, and Aidan Pitzen, Calla, Hazel, and Rowan Burg, and Weston and Hudson Franzen. He is further survived by his mother, Betty; his siblings, Judy (Walt) Johnson, Mary Pitzen, Carol (Gale) Johnson, and Mark (Wendy) Pitzen; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Alan (Sharon) Schaefer, Ronald (Judy) Schaefer, Cheryl Sauer, Mary (Ron) Dugenske, Nancy (Mike) Pieper, David Schaefer, Lori Schaefer (Pete Dreiling), Susan (Dave) Boyke, Gary (Julie) Schaefer, Mark Schaefer (Kim Jennaro), and Joseph Schaefer (Paula Siech); a special family friend, Jerry Sauer; and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his father, Arlin; his stepfather, Ambrose Mueller; his father- and mother-in-law, Jerome and Thelma Schaefer; his granddaughter, Willow Burg; and a nephew, Ryan Doyle.
Funeral service will be at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 6:15 pm. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available above for those wishing to watch a memorial video or see photos of the flowers and gifts given to the family.
David’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Calumet County Hospice, especially Michelle and Amanda, for the care they provided him during this time.
