Donald A Nadler

Chilton WI

Donald A. Nadler, age 92, of Chilton, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, at Willowdale Health Services in New Holstein. He was born May 13, 1932, in Jericho, son of the late Emanuel and Lorine (Wagner) Nadler.

Donald met Edna Diederichs through a friend of his, her brother. As Edna puts it, “He decided he wanted the sister, not the brother.” They dated for a couple of years and got married on September 12, 1953. They were married over 71 years when he passed, and during that time they raised five children. While the kids were growing up, the family loved heading out to the woods with a big tent and camping out.

Everybody liked Don - he could talk to anyone, especially if the subject turned to hunting or fishing. The only thing he loved more than being in the woods or on the lake was being with his family. Sundays were always family day at their house. He loved having his family live nearby so he could continue to take care of them. Don was extremely smart, even without much of a formal education, because he had so much common sense.

Donald is survived by his wife, Edna; his children: LuAnn (Thomas) Buechel, Leon (Shelly) Nadler, Dennis (Mary Kay) Nadler, Marge Nadler (Vassil Torodov), and Donna (Steve) Gilsdorf; fourteen grandchildren: Stacy (Eric) Klapperich, Mathew Buechel (Margeaux Wilkinson), Christopher (Rachel) Nadler, Shana Vande Zande, Ryan (Amanda) Nadler, Ashley (Sergio) Chaj, Grant (Jessica) Nadler, Fallon (Korey) Schneider, Jared (Rachel) Petrie, Anthony (Megan) Petrie, Evan (Amanda) Petrie, Olivare Todorov, Katie (Justin) West, Abigail (Isaac) Vroman; 28 great-grandchildren; a sister: Darlene Nadler (significant other, Michael Ortlieb); sister-in-law: Mary Ellen Nadler; and brother-in-law: Gerald Diederichs.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel and Lorine; a brother: James Nadler; Edna’s parents: Albert and Priska Diederichs; and in-laws: Melvin (Rita) Diederichs, Jerome (Joanie) Diederichs, and Bernice Diederichs.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at St. Mary of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church (120 Davis St.) in Stockbridge. Friends may call from 1:00 pm until 2:45 pm at the church on the day of service. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available for those wishing to watch a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family, on their website page provided through wietingfuneralhome.com

Deepest Sympathies. For years we would meet Don and Edna at the landing after a morning of sturgeon spearing. Enjoyed wonderful conversations and laughs. RIP Mayfly.
