Donald G Hawley
Stockbridge, WI

Donald G. Hawley, age 92, of Stockbridge, died on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Prairie Homes in Menasha.  He was born April 2, 1929 in Stockbridge, son of the late Gene & Nora (Goeser) Hawley.

Donald began working on the family homestead, helping with the many farm chores and later applied his strong work ethic at Kimberly Clark Paper Company in Kimberly, WI.  He was later drafted and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and following his honorable discharge, he returned to the area where he continued to worked for Kimberly Clark/Midtec until his retirement.

He married Margie L. Lefeber on June 8, 1954 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge where he had been a life long member of the parish.

Donald enjoyed the great outdoors and all of the adventure it could bring. He looked forward to time spent hunting, fishing, sturgeon spearing and gardening.

Growing up in the Stockbridge area, Donald had a deep appreciation for the beauty of the sunsets over Lake Winnebago and all of the beauty of nature around him.   A bit later in life, he found a new passion for cooking and loved to watch the Food Networkand listen to Emeril Lagasee.  He also possessed the gift of gab, and what could have been a quick trip to the grocery store often times wound up being of significant time because of the many people he would come across and the various stories and recipes that would be shared.
Survivors include his daughters: Debby (Norm) Thorsbakken, Lisa (Gary) Hoerth; and 5 grandchildren: Michael Milhaupt, Nykki Milhaupt, David (Crystal) Hawley, Amanda (Sam) Mandefro, Allie Hoerth and Michael East.  He is survived by his beloved great grandchildren Izabella and Paisley(Dad’s little furry dog friend), Eyon, Alanah, Kashton, Megan, Lucy and Vincent.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Margie; and a daughter: Mary Beth Hawley.

We would like to extend our sincere thank you to Prairie Homes in Menasha and Heartland Hospice for their kindness and their great care.  We could not have done it without you!!  We like to refer to them as our angels on earth!!
First of all my prayers are with you Lisa, Debbie and family. Donny was such a good man and friend to me growing up. He loved to see me have success fishing, hunting, on the ball field and life in general. Always willing to give compliments and
talk about those things we had in common. Even though he close to my dads age, he was not just a mentor, but friend.
Bless Don’s soul.

I guess the first thing that enters my mind is our time at Village Park .... a neighborhood full of kids that learned how to ride bikes played lots of baseball together, swam, fought, and loved each other. We had parents that watched over all of us .... played cards, raised big families, went to Sunday Mass, Weddings and yes Funerals. My love for your family is forever cherished. God bless you all at this very difficult time ??

Don, I loved being your neighbor for over 25 years! You would always stop and talk if we were outside and you would stop into my office in the courthouse to say hi whenever you came for something else. You were always special. I know that you, Margie and Mary are all together now. Sending hugs and prayers to your family on earth. You will be missed.

Don, Well if you didn't surprise me! My sincere condolences to your family. There are so many nice things I remember you doing for other people that guarantees your place in heaven. My grandparents, the Doxtators talked all the time about you bringing fish or sturgeon or a little venison up. How you treated them so well
What a cool dad you were to the girls and the best grandpa/dad Dave could have ask for. God speed Don. Tell Mary I miss her. I love you all.
