Donald W Michael
Chilton WI
Donald W. Michael, age 96, of Chilton, passed away on March 17, 2024, at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc. Donald was born on August 22, 1927, son of the late Bruno and Freida Michael. After graduating high school he became active in World War II, proudly serving his country from 1945-1947 as a member of the Merchant Marines, transporting cargo and passengers to the theaters in Europe and in the Pacific. On April 15, 1950, he married the love of his life, Virginia Hoppe, and they had 73 wonderful years together until his passing.
Don worked for the Foley Aluminum Company in Chilton until his retirement. Outside of work, and after retiring, Don enjoyed dancing, gardening, playing cards, casino trips, traveling, and hunting with his son and grandsons.
Donald is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny” Michael, of Chilton; his children: Sue (Cal) Saylors, of Granbury, TX, Steve (Dawn) Michael, of Brillion, and Amy (Ron) Muellenbach, of Chilton; grandchildren: Bernadette Frisch, of Sioux City, IA, Calvin Saylors, Jr., of Tucson, AZ, Ben Michael, of Appleton, Nicole (Nick) Vertz, of Wrightstown, Andy (Jamie) Michael, of Appleton, Chris (Megan) Meyers, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Patrick (Nique) Meyers, of Covington, LA; great-grandchildren: Bryce Michael, Jadyn Vertz, Landyn Vertz, Adasyn Vertz, Alex Michael, Ayden Michael, Hayley Michael, Harper Meyers, Roman Meyers, and Adrian Meyers.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents: Bruno and Freida Michael; and a brother: Arthur Michael.

The family extends special thanks to the team at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation, Heartland Hospice, and the Wieting Family Funeral Home for their care and compassion, as well as to Pastor Thomas Schmitt for the visits and prayers he shared.
