Donna M Buechel

Chilton WI

Donna M. Buechel, age 88, of Chilton, died on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Abridge Care Cottage in Chilton.  She was born September 25, 1936, daughter of the late Anton & Romilda (Weber) Broeckel.  On April 11, 1956, she married Bruno Buechel at St. Charles Catholic Church in Charlesburg.

Donna worked on the family farm and was kept very busy raising their seven children.  She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Chilton where she also volunteered countless hours serving with the Christian Women and served her community through the Chilton Eagles Auxiliary.

In her spare time, Donna enjoyed gardening, reading, playing Sheepshead with family and friends and never passed up an opportunity for a good game of Bingo.  She was an excellent cook and baker.  There was not a person who knew her that would pass up a helping of her home made dressing or chocolate eclairs.  Her Saturday mornings were set aside for the Jerry Schneider Polka Program, but she also looked forward to Thursday nights when she could sit back, relax, and take in the music at the Calumet County Fairgrounds in Chilton.  Shocking to no-one, she could be found leaving the evening with a door-prize more often than not.

Donna is survived by her seven children:  David Buechel, Richard (Darlene) Buechel, Patricia Buechel, Dennis Buechel, Kady Buechel, Sandy (Jeff) Ziegelbauer, Sue Buechel (Nancy Woelfel); grandchildren: Kristin (Aaron) Baltz, Eric Buechel (Emily Schneider), Danielle (Mark) Breckheimer, Ben (Lauran) Buechel, Emily Ott; great-grandchildren: Maverick & Axel Breckheimer, David & Henry Baltz, Arlo & Ophelia Buechel, Bridger Buechel and Baby Buechel who is on the way.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband Bruno who died 20 years ago in 2005; her parents: Anton & Romilda Broeckel; her parents-in-law: Clem & Margaret Buechel; her siblings: Eileen (Tom) Buechel, Lester Broeckel (Shirley Ward); and her daughter-in-law: Dianne Buechel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with Rev. Jon Thorsen officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Charlesburg.  A time of visitation will be at the church from 10:00 am until 11:45 am on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

Donna’s family would like to extend a warm, heartfelt Thank-You to the entire staff at both Lake House in New Holstein and Abridge Care Center in Chilton for all of the loving care that was provided for both Donna as well as her entire family.
