Doris M Franz
Hilbert, WI

Doris Mae Franz, age 89, returned to her heavenly home on May 7, 2019.  Her firm belief in God and her devotion to her family guided her throughout her life.

Doris was born on September 19, 1929 to the late Christian & Pauline (Bennin) Glasow.  Doris married Willard J. Franz on June 12, 1948 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert.  She was a lifelong member of the parish and was involved in various organizations and roles in the church including the Finance Committee and the church choir.

Doris lived a full life as a resident of Hilbert where she enjoyed working and interacting with employees at Wispride Cheese in Hilbert.  Following her retirement, she continued working at the elementary school kitchen and finally serving meals to seniors at the Village Hall.

Throughout her life, Doris was involved in many activities ranging from Scouting to the Calumet Homemaker’s Association.  Doris enjoyed bowling, cooking, baking, canning, traveling and attending concerts and theatrical events featuring her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Doris will always be known for her dill pickles, Christmas candy, pretzel salad, baked goods and of course, her German Potato Salad.

She had great memories from her many trips throughout the United States to places like Branson, Grand Old Opry, California and family trips to Orlando.  She enjoyed telling stories about her trips to Mexico and Hawaii.

Doris had a green thumb.  Throughout her life, she took pride in growing vegetables and flowers.  Her home was always full of plants and she liked to display fresh cut flowers.

Doris loved to get in her car and drive, often assisting friends with their errands.  Doris liked going out to eat and socializing.  She enjoyed watching the Packers and Brewers in addition to country music and Polka shows.  Doris especially valued the time she spent with her family and family gatherings.

Doris is survived by her sons: David (Linda) Franz of Hilbert, Jim Franz of Gurnee, IL, Tim (Jennifer) Franz of Oshkosh, daughter-in-law: Linda (Garth) Wegner; and a son-in-law: Don (Kathy) Beach.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren, whom she loved dearly: Jeff (Hilary) Franz and their children, Madeline, Gabby & Olivia of Carlsbad, CA, Mike (Chrystal) Franz and their children, Jacob, Amanda & Alex of Brookfield, WI, Adam (Karra) Beach and their children Dominic, Ashton and her newest great grandchild, born May 8, 2019, Ezekiel of Verona, WI, Dr. Brenda (Enrique) Gomez of San Diego, CA, Ben (Nicole) Franz and their children Bowyer & Daxton of Wrightstown, WI, Dr. Casandra (Jake) ZumMallen and their son, Graham of Neenah, WI, Emily Franz and her daughter Charlotte Mae of Oshkosh, WI, and Heidi (Damian) Franz of Whitewater, WI; and her beloved sister: Lou Ann Seidl; a  brother-in-law: Tom Maguire; in addition to many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 4:00 pm on Monday, May 13, 2019 at St. Peter Lutheran Church (43 N. 3rd St.) in Hilbert with Rev. Mark Krueger officiating.  Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.  A time of visitation will be held at the church from 12:00 Noon until 3:45 pm on Monday, May 13, 2019.
Dear Doris' family,
Please accept my condolences at this time. Your mother was a sweet person and I so enjoyed every moment I saw or spoke with her.
I think the party's started now that Doris and her best friend Jeanne are together again!! They were the dynamic dual!!.. I can only imagine the laughs the good Lord is receiving from them!!!
RIP dear Doris

What a wonderful woman! Doris was always on the go, usually helping others or joining them for one fun activity or another. We had many, many good visits and lots of great meals together.
I always admired her strong faith and commitment to family. She was also quite the candy chef and always supplied me with way too many delicious peanut butter balls and other goodies at Christmas time. I love you, Doris. Rest in peace, dear friend.

you have my sympathy! I always enjoyed talking to Doris when we met around especially at walmart. It always was a least a 10-15 minute chat! So sorry for your loss! You and all of family are in my prayers!

My memories of Auntie Doris are going to her house and having her cookies. At Christmas time she made caramels and they were the best ever. With your strong faith, I'm guessing you were welcomed into the arms of our Lord and there were many family members waiting for you. Auntie Doris, you will be missed by many.
