Dorothy M Neuhaus
Chilton, WI

Dorothy May Neuhaus, age 83, of Chilton, died on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Chilton.  She was born on May 9, 1935 in Gravesville, daughter of the late Edward & Margaret (Handy)  Bowe.  Dorothy married Harold Neuhaus in November of 1979 at Ebenezer UCC in Chilton.

Dorothy worked through the school district of Chilton as a janitor and as a crossing guard at where she was a fixture at the corner of West Main Street and State Street.

Although she never took a formal lesson in her life, Dorothy became a fine and entertaining pianist who never passed up an opportunity to tickle the ivory.    In her free time, she enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden and created delicious home cooked meals for her family to enjoy.  She possessed a sassy attitude and a kind heart who took great joy in the gift of her children’s children.  She treated her grandchildren as though they were her own kids and spoiled them beyond measure.

Survivors include her husband: Harold; her children: Elizabeth (Robin) Hansen, Evelyn Bowe, Pamela (John) Ziolkowski; 4 step children; 5 grandchildren: David Luchinski, Eric Luchinski, Richard Hostettler, Maria Hostettler & Ray Holz; and her 3 great grandchildren: Ethan Brady, Brian Luchinski & Audrey “Smartie” Luchinski.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and her 8 brothers: Harold, Willard, Hank, Edward, Elmer, Robert, Donald & Louie.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton with Rev Michael Safford-Kennedy officiating.  Burial will follow in the Portland Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 pm when the service will begin.
I loved Dorothy's playing the piano and visiting. I will miss her.

Ginny Laughrin and Rosie, the dog (visited at he nursing home) - May 21, 2018

Grandma loved her grandchildren more than life itself. I will forever be blessed knowing the biggest hearted grandmother to walk the earth. I spent half my childhood visiting grandma. I remember riding bike with her when she was trying to get in shape. We stopped in the driveway to look at a plane in the sky. She fell off her bike. I remember her laughing so hard despite the fact that the injury to her knee required surgery. Never in my life have I met a tougher lady. I love you grandma

Dorothy was a sweet lady.

Karen (Step niece ) - May 12, 2018

I used to help Dorothy every Friday at a sing-along at the nursing home I would help her with her music and she did love music immensely. She was such a sweet lady with a lot of love in her heart and I will miss her

David Bessert (Friend) - May 12, 2018

We always remember her beautiful music. Enjoyed visiting her last time we were up from Texas. She remembered us and called me by name. At first she thought I was Elmer but then recalled I was Neal.
