Edward Jost
Chilton, WI

Edward John Jost, age 99, formerly of Milwaukee, went home to be with his heavenly Father on Nov, 17, 2021, with his loving wife Anna of 50 years at his side. Ed was a resident at Century Ridge Assisted Living in Chilton.

He was born on February 10, 1922 the youngest of nine, born of the late Louis and Anna (Jost) Jost, immigrants from Austria.  Ed attended Holy Cross Catholic School.  Ed proudly served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.  Ed was stationed at San Diego where he was a machinist sharpening tools for the men who did repairs on the ships in dry dock.  He also was a cook in the mess hall preparing meals for the men at the base.

After serving his country, he returned to Milwaukee. Ed tried his hand at a variety of jobs such as a rouge and lipstick factory, the Pabst Brewery Company and Vilar and Stove Factory where he assembled submarines. Little did he know, that his training in the Navy would lead him to his lifelong profession of a tool and die craftsman at Monarch Corp where Ed worked for 28 years.

Ed married Anna Marie Meyers on December 12, 1970.  They made their home in Milwaukee and together they carved out a loving relationship for 50 years.  They traveled extensively in their younger years.  Ed and Anna were avid walkers and were active all of their life.  They moved to Chilton in August of 2018.  They were regulars at 7 Angels Restaurant where they created good friendships with the staff.  They continued their walking regiment at Walmart and enjoyed the socializing they did among the Walmart employees.

Ed is survived by his wife Anna and her siblings, Gervase Meyers, Loretta (Harold) Baer of Hilbert, Adella Anhalt, LeRoy (Patricia) Meyers, Pauline (Joe) Geiser, and Julie Meyers, numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; cousins and many friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Louis & Anna Jost; eight siblings, Louis Jost Sr. & Margaret Jost; Rudolph & Margaret Jost; Joseph & Tana Marie Jost; Robert & Jannette Jost; Anna (Garhart) Wolff; Emma (John) Schupp; and two baby sisters that were born in Austria and died in childhood; parents-in-law Zeno & Marie Meyers; brother-in-law Ralph Meyers; sister-in-law Ann Meyers; brother-in-law Paul Anhalt.

Visitation will take place Sun. Dec.12th.   Family and friends may call at Wieting Funeral Home 411 W. Main St. in Chilton from 11AM to 1PM.  A memorial service with military honors will follow.  Edward will be laid to rest on Monday Dec. 13th at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Century Ridge and Calumet County Hospice for the loving care they gave to our dear Ed, also to Wieting Funeral Home personnel for helping with the planning at this most difficult time.
Waitress Stephanie from 7 Angels ....So sorry for your loss Anna!
