Eileen H Pfister

Chilton WI

Eileen Helen (Freitag) Pfister of Chilton, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at the gracious age of 100 and 2/3 years of natural causes on November 29, 2025 at Caring Hands Assisted Living, New Holstein, Wisconsin.

Eileen was the youngest of seven children of Albert & Gertrude (Olig) Freitag of Chilton on March 27, 1925. She grew up on the Manitowoc River and enjoyed swimming, boating and ice skating. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and, at Chilton High School she played in the marching band. She met Hilmer Pfister who loved playing baseball— together with friends they would enjoy dancing, occasionally venturing to The Argonne Ballroom in Chicago, leading to their marriage in Chilton on September 25, 1946.

Hilmer and Eileen became third generation owners of Pfister Farms in rural New Holstein. Together they shared farm duties, and were named Outstanding Young Farmers in Northeastern Wisconsin in the mid- 1950’s. To their credit, the farm has been continually operated by the family for the fourth and fifth generations with a total of over 170 years of operation.  In addition to household duties, Eileen gardened and canned fruits and vegetables.

Eileen enjoyed many social activities, primarily visiting with her siblings’ families including birthday and holiday celebrations, summer brat fry’s on the farm, church picnics, and many gatherings ending with boisterous rounds of table-pounding Sheepshead games.

Following their retirement from the farm in 1990, Hilmer and Eileen moved to Chilton where Eileen continued to reside after Hilmer’s passing in 1993. She volunteered at Chilton Memorial Hospital and the Salvatorian Center in New Holstein, and continued to reside independently in Chilton until she moved to Caring Hands in New Holstein in November, 2022. She loved reading, playing dominos and bingo, and crocheting many items that her family continues to enjoy.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hilmer in September 1993, her parents Albert and Gertrude Freitag, and siblings Lucille (Bill) Kubale, Sylvester (Loretta) Freitag, Dorothy (Melvin) Sagstetter, Veronica “Ronnie” (Al) Lodes, Thelma (Glen) Schwobe and Romilda “Romie” (Carl) Neuber; siblings-in- law Ralph (Olivia) Pfister, Roman (Apolonia) Reiser, Elmer (Hilda) Rasmussen; and daughter-in-law Lynn Pfister.

She is survived by sons: Donald (Diane) Pfister of New Holstein, Peter Pfister of Minneapolis, and daughter Debra (Gary) Anhalt of New Holstein; Grandchildren Angela Pfister of Minneapolis, Michael (Angela “Angie”) Pfister of Kiel, Stefan Pfister of Minneapolis and Patrick Pfister of Omaha; and Great- Grandchildren Lauren, Kailey and Logan Pfister of Kiel.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, December 8, 2025 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton.  Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Chilton.  A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 am until 10:45 am.  At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available above for those wishing to watch a memorial video or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family.

Eileen’s family thanks the staff at Caring Hands Assisted Living in New Holstein, especially Jenny and Michell for caring for her over the past three years, and to Kim and Amanda and the staff at Calumet County Homecare and Hospice for their care and support over the past six months. Your kindness, love and thoughts are greatly appreciated by the family.
