Ethel A Wheaton
Hilbert, WI

Ethel A. Wheaton, age 89, of Hilbert, died on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at her home in Hilbert.  She was born July 20, 1932 in Seymour, daughter of the late Robert & Josie (Samson) Ziegenbein.  She attended Chilton High School and graduated from Gillet High School, and was proud to be invited to both school’s class reunions.

She married Wesley Wheaton on February 24, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rantoul where Ethel had been a life long member.
Ethel worked for AAL for over 20 years and also worked at D&D Equipment and Hingess Implement in Chilton.

As an incredibly independent woman, Ethel was deeply passionate about many things in her life and wanted the best for her church and the lives of the people she cared about around her.  She was never a person seeking the accolades of others, but continually worked in the background, quietly giving of herself for the betterment of others.

In her free time, Ethel made sure to keep the birds in her back yard fed and happy.  She looked forward to rides with her husband, Wes, and took great pride in her God given lead foot.  Ethel kept up on her news by perusing the National Enquirer and never passed up a cold glass of Root Beer, knowing that was the “best beer” out there.

Above all else, Ethel treasured her faith, her family and those friends who meant the world to her.

Survivors include her sister: Janet (Bud) Schuh, a sister-in-law: Shirley Ziegenbein; 6 Godchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Wes; her parents; a step father: Reuben Kleinsmith; and a brother: Melvin Ziegenbein.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rantoul (N6080 W. River Road Hilbert, WI 54129) with Rev. Brett Simek officiating.  Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church from 9:00 am until 10:45 am on Thursday, September 2, 2021.  Those who wish to watch a livestream of the service, or see an archived recording of the service in the future, can do so by clicking HERE

Memorials given in the name of Ethel A. Wheaton are appreciated for Trinity Lutheran Church and School.
So very sorry about Ethel. I just heard today and the funeral has already started. We have so many good memories of visiting at the buffet and missed seeing her the last 2 years due to covid. Ethel and Wes have videos of me an my sisters at a beach on a slide into the water. They visited with my parents, Ben and Wilma, often when I was growing up. Love and prayers.

Bob & Cathy Pink (Great niece) - Sept. 2, 2021

It is with shock and a heavy heart that the Calumet Medical Center Auxiliary receives this news, as we were looking forward to working with Ethel at this year's Fall Mum Sale. Ethel became a member of the CMC Auxiliary on March 8th, 1965. We are blessed to share 56 years of her light, dedication, and compassion. Ethel's service was a true gift to our organization! We send our prayers out to the Wheaton family at this time.

Maria Mason (CMC Auxiliary Coordinator) - Sept. 1, 2021

Prayers go out to Ethel A.
Wheaton's family. She always
had a smile on her face, even
after she lost her husband, of her life!!!
She was definitely one
of God's Angels on Earth.
Rest in peace Ethel!
