Gerald K. Schroeder, age 90, passed away on July 23, 2021. He was born October 15, 1930, in Chilton, son of the late George C. and Martha (Hinz) Schroeder. He was baptized on November 2, 1930, and confirmed on May 28, 1944. He married Darlene Hopfensperger on September 12, 1951, and enjoyed their lives together. She preceded him in death on June 23, 1994.
 
Gerald farmed in Chilton for ten years and worked many years at Carnation in Chilton and Land O’ Lakes in Kiel. He moved to Hilbert in 1961 and became a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, where he served his Lord in various offices.
 
His survivors include four daughters and one son, Deborah (Rev. Gregory) Barth, Simi Valley, California, Don (Lois) Schroeder, New Holstein, Wisconsin, Doreen (Jay) Ott, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Darla Schroeder, Thiensville, WI, Denise (Anthony) Dragel, Carpentersville, Illinois. His survivors also include one brother and one sister, George Schroeder and Laverne Muenster. He also leaves behind his in-laws, Delores Blahnik, Alice Ruffing, Andy (Linda) Hopfensperger, Sandra Schuh, Randy Hopfensperger, Paula (Harry) Schneider, Linda (Al) Zaletal.
 
He is survived by his loving grandchildren, Melissa (Chris) Rameriz, Christopher (Lisa) Barth, Joanna (Blaine) McAulay, Jonathan Barth, Ryan (Dagmar) Schroeder, Nathan (Elena) Schroeder, Stephen (Sally) Schroeder, Brandon (Carrie) Ott, Cass (Meaghan) Ott, Miranda (Rev. Ian) Headrick, Micah Schroeder.
 
Gerald is further survived by eighteen great-grandchildren, Skie and Harmonie Rameriz, Jacob Barth, Conway and Mako McAulay, Daxton and Mila Schroeder, Jaymen, Blake and Peyton Ott, Fiona, Monroe, Eleanora, and Phineas Headrick, Ethan and Liam Schroeder, Lux Schroeder and Sutton Ott.
 
He is also survived by one great-great-grandchild, Killian Wright.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene, his parents, George and Martha, mother and father-in-law, Andrew and Ida Hopfensperger, two grandchildren, Jamin and Kasem Ott, as well as his siblings, Delmar Schroeder, Marcella Federwitz, Verona Plate, and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Lester Plate, George Muenster, Matt Schuh, Francis Blahnik, Charles Ruffing, Delores Schroeder, Janice Schroeder, Betty (Bud) Kohne, and Donna (Daniel) Stenz.
 
A funeral service is set for 11:00am on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at St. Peter Lutheran Church (43 N. 3rd St.) in Hilbert. Friends may call from 10:00am until 11:00am at the church on day of service. Our sympathy to the family of Gerald, he was a class mate of Art's at Chilton High School, Class of '48. May he rest in peace.
