Gerald R. Korb passed away in Locust Grove, Virginia on February 6, 2021 at the age of 82. He was born on April 30, 1938 in Chilton, Wisconsin to Elroy and Helen (Weber) Korb.  Gerald had three younger brothers—Ronald (Ann), Robert (Gail), and Kenneth (Edith).  He graduated from Chilton High School in 1956 and went on to graduate from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin.

He later joined the U.S. Marine Corps.  Gerald rose to the rank of captain and was in command of over 150 Marines.  After honorably serving, he went back to school to study accounting and graduated with a Master’s of Accountancy from the University of Arizona.  He earned a CPA while working at Arthur Anderson and worked as a CPA for 36 years.  He rose through hard work and determination to be an officer in a Fortune 500 company and then held leadership roles in several companies, finally retiring from Allied Colloid as Chief Operating Officer for North America.  He then retired to a community in Virginia close to where he had trained to be a Marine Corps officer.

Gerald was married to Polly (Welch) and then Jean (Woods) and had three children: Amanda, Todd (Raquel Engelke), and Christy (David Hansin).  He was the grandfather to Kylin, Madeleine, Ethan, and Alexandra.

In retirement, Gerald enjoyed golfing, bowling, bridge, dancing, and acting in plays.  He also taught at the local community college, tutored grade school students, and attended church regularly.  He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.  In the end, he died peacefully and his heart always remained true.  He loved his family with a fierce devotion and always tried to help them and everyone who came to know him.

A memorial service will be held in the spring at Good Shepherd Parish in Chilton, Wisconsin.

Gerald was the best man at our wedding and we were good friends over the years. Gerald came to visit us in McMinnville OR and we had a great time going over all our past years together. What a super nice person and thoughtful person he was and we will remember him forever in our hearts.
