Glenn A Hackbarth
Hilbert WI
Glenn A. Hackbarth, age 75, of Hilbert, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours with family by his side on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. He was born November 22, 1949 in Appleton, son of the late Earl & Marie (Schmidt) Hackbarth. On September 23, 1972, Glenn married Karen M. McNaughton at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert.
Following graduation from Hilbert High School, Glenn enrolled in a short course program for agriculture to enrich his farming knowledge. He used his education to carry on the legacy of Hackbarth Farms, where he was raised and worked his entire life until retirement. After retirement he continued to help local farmers by milking cows, doing field work, and packing feed during harvest season.
He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back. In his spare time, Glenn volunteered countless hours at St Vincent de Paul in Hilbert. He also worked with volunteers from St Mary Catholic Church, in the concession stand at Lambeau Field for Green Bay Packer home games. This was a perfect opportunity for him to meet and talk with new people. He also looked forward to the monthly game of Sheepshead (therapy session) with Donnie, Paul J, Mark, Paul E, Gary, and Keith.
Glenn was a very hands on individual who went out of his way to tinker with anything and everything that he could find. If it needed fixing, or even if he thought he could make it better, Glenn had his hands on it. This was an excellent trait which Glenn utilized in all of his woodworking designs. From cake stands to benches and everything in between. He would track down patterns for anything that needed to be built. Built to last a lifetime. Glenn will fondly be remembered for his strong work ethic and his impeccable and unique way to tell a “Dad Joke.” He had an infectious laugh; once he started laughing it was most certain everyone around him would start laughing as well. Most recently, Glenn spent time stripping……..wire that is!
Survivors include his children: Beth (Tom) Conrad, Greg McNaughton (Betsy) Hackbarth, Kate (Jason) Scherer; his grandchildren: Johnathon, Madelynn, & Cara; his siblings: Roger Hackbarth, Ken (Julie) Hackbarth, Eugene (Kathy) Hackbarth, Sandy Hackbarth and special friend Greg Garton, Dennis Hackbarth, Dale (Joyce) Hackbarth; and his siblings-in-laws Peggy (Mark) Schneider and Jerome Geiser. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, a great niece and a great nephew, great great nieces, other relatives and life long friends especially Peg & Mark, Dennis & MaryKay, Jeff & Gloria, and Suzanne & Dick.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his wife Karen, parents-in-law John (Kathryn) McNaughton, siblings: Diane Hackbarth, Clayton Hackbarth, Carol Geiser; and his siblings-in-law: Judy Hackbarth, Lori Hackbarth, Miria Hackbarth, Patricia (John Pierce) McNaughton, John B McNaughton and Eileen M McNaughton.
Private family services are being held.
The family would like to thank Hilbert Potter First Responders, Dr. Starr, Dr. Abbi, Chad -NP, Angie-RN for coordinating the logistics of getting Dad home, Tru-Way Transport in Brussels for bringing Dad home, 4th floor nurses, Nikki, Brandi, and Betsey for your kindness and compassion, Heartland Hospice and Cindy-RN. We couldn’t have done this without you. We would also like to thank Leon Ruhland for his daily visits and kind words that would bring a smile to Dad’s face and put laughter in the air.
Dad, Glenn, Grampy, Bossman: Our pillar of strength, knowledge, and love. You nurtured, taught, and shaped us to be who we are today. We will carry on your legacy and continue to make you proud. Hugs and kisses to Mom. May you be dancing to Unchained Melody. We’ll take it from here. Godspeed. Love you bunches.

We are very sorry to learn of your loss. We never met Glen, but his siblings all seem to be very hard working with a sense of humor. We have lost family members to aggressive cancer and are glad he is in a good place and not suffering. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family during this difficult time.

To Glens family, My heart goes out to you guys. I had many years of friendship and probably hundreds of card games with him. He always seemed to find a way to tell a good story or joke. We as a card group will surely miss him.
