Grace M. Kolbe, age 96, of Chilton, died on Friday, May 22, 2020 at St. Paul Elder Home in Kaukauna.  She was born, the eldest of 12 children on November 9, 1923, daughter of the late John & Margaret (Braun) Schuh.

Grace married Arthur Kolbe on July 10, 1945 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Brillion and they farmed side by side until his death on October 1, 1971.

Grace was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, formerly St. Martin Parish in Charlestown where she worshiped the Lord through her musical talents, playing the organ for over 40 years.  She also volunteered countless hours with the Christian Women at St. Martin Parish, and belonged to both the Eagles and Hospital Auxiliaries.  She also was a member of the Calumet County Homemaker Association and the Calumet County Farm Bureau.  Knowing that education would advance a child’s life, Grace volunteered time reading to, and listening to children read to her at the Catholic School.

She is survived by her children: Jeanne (Harlen) Olson, Bernita (Thomas) Selk, Mary (Kenneth) Keiler, Robert (Colleen) Kolbe, Donald Kolbe, Dennis (Carol) Kolbe, Linda (Richard) Juckem; her 19 grandchildren: Jennifer, Chris, & Matthew Keiler, Kara Sullivan & Ryan Olson, Nathan & Nicholas Selk, Daniel & Paul Kolbe, Patricia Rhodes, Brian & Kevin Kolbe, Michelle Hardwick, Patrick, David & Thomas Kolbe, Erin Nash, Jonathan & Justin Juckem; 21 great grandchildren; her brothers: James (Betty) Schuh, Bernard (Nancy) Schuh; her sisters: Mary Reinke, Lucy (Charles) Meyer; and her siblings-in-law: Ann Schuh, Paul Rasmussen, Marilyn Schuh, Dorothy Brenner, Janice Kolbe and Harold Brenner.  She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who have visited and offered loving joy to Grace throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Arthur; her siblings: John (Rita) Schuh, Henry (Lil) Schuh, Elmer Schuh, Theresa Rasumussen, Sylvia (John) Schaefer, Margaret (Vance) Bastian, Arnold Schuh; and another brother-in-law: Leo Reinke.

Public gatherings will take place at a later date.  Please check back for more information.

Grace’s family would like the thank all of the staff at Caring Hands, Century Ridge, St. Paul’s Elder Care Services and St. Paul’s Hospice for all of the loving care that was given to Grace, and extended to her family.

My deepest sympathy to Grace’s family. I got to know her at St Paul Home and enjoyed visiting with her. We had a few things in common-Chilton & Brillion! She would always ask what was new in Brillion, and she’d share stories of days gone by. She will be missed! Eternal rest grant onto Grace, oh Lord.

To All of Grace's family I send my sincere sympathy to you. I grew very fond of Grace the short time I spent with her at Century Ridge playing cards with her and my Dad and others. I was graciously welcomed in the circle and sooo enjoyed my visits with her. She was a true example of a Strong Woman and may she be enjoying her Eternal Reward. Bless and peace be with you all. I remember Grace when Bernita and I hung out together during grade school years. She was so generous with her many talents! What a loss to our world but deserving of rest at this point in her life. Blessings to each of her family for their loss especially during this difficult time of isolation.

Dear family, we send our deepest sympathy to you on the death of your mom. My mom enjoyed her friendship with your mom over the years. She thought the world of your mom and will miss talking to her as they did many times. We have fond memories of simpler times when our families attended church and school together at St. Martins. May God keep you in His care as you mourn your mom's death. Keeping special memories of happy times in our hearts. With Love, Tom, Linda & Lucille.
