Grant N. Kolbe, age 41, of Hilbert, went home to be with the Lord after a brave and courageous battle with the monster of stomach cancer on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at Froedtert Hospital in West Bend, Wisconsin. He was born on December 6, 1984, son of Kenneth & Nancy (Mueller) Kolbe.
He was a graduate of Hilbert High School where he played football and proudly announced to anyone who would listen that they retired his number there because he hadn’t seen anyone wear it since. Grant then obtained his degree in Public Administration from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay and began working as a business unit director for MB in Chilton. Later, Grant worked in sales for Great Northern Corporation in the Rollguard division.
Grant married his high school sweetheart, Amy (Moschel), on November 8, 2008. They were blessed to spend over 25 years of their lives together, sharing inside jokes, endless looks of love while holding hands, and wondering what they ever did to deserve each other.
He was a member of Community Church in Oshkosh and volunteered with the ministry of Voice of Compassion.
Grant enjoyed watching any and all sports on all occasions, but he especially loved watching his children’s sporting events. When he wasn’t watching his favorite team or his favorite players, Grant enjoyed heading outside to go for a leisurely walk with his wife and his family. Whenever possible, he looked forward to firing up the grill, lighting the smoker or fixing a delicious meal on his Blackstone. Although he had an array of questions about the legitimate existence of dinosaurs, he managed to amass a vast array of dinosaur paraphernalia.
Survivors include his wife: Amy; his children: Aryssa, Carson & Maycee Kolbe; his mother: Nancy; his siblings: Adam (Marian) Kolbe, Tyler Kolbe; his parents-in-law: Rory & Julie Moschel; his sister-in-law: Amanda (Shaun) Popp; his nieces and nephews: Evan & Arya Kolbe, Kaylee Kolbe, Amelya, Breigh, Caitlyn, Dustin, Evaleigh, Fletcher & Gloriana Popp; his special cousin and karaoke partner: Tim Johnson; his former bandmate: Andrew T. Gipp; and his beloved four legged companion: Cliff. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father: Kenneth; his maternal grandparents: Jacob & Florence Mueller; and his paternal grandparents: Andrew & Alice Kolbe.
Funeral service will be at 11:08 am on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 and on Thursday at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 10:45 am. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available above for those wishing to watch a memorial video or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family.
The family would like to thank all of the first responders, paramedics, ER, hospital, palliative care, oncology, and home health care providers for doing everything they could in their care for Grant. Your jobs did not go unnoticed and your compassion was felt deeply by the family. Thank you will not be words enough to describe our gratitude.
While the earth has gotten one hearty belly laugh quieter, we rest in the hope of Heaven. We know Grant is completely healed at the feet of his Savior and what a comfort in our immense sorrow this brings.

My condolences to the Kolbe family. Had the pleasure of working with Grant the past 5 years and I am deeply sorry to hear about your great loss. Aside from being a great vendor to work with, I know that he loved his family and truly cherished them. I am going to miss talking about the NFL with him and razzing each other over our favorite teams. Rest in peace buddy.

Grant and Tim were like two peas in a pod. I knew you and Grant before anyone in the family. You both had welcomed me with open arms and made me feel like part of the crew. EVERY hang out the laughs were Nonstop. Seeing Tim and Grant together when we dated to when we got married and followed by our visits to Wisconsin are some of the best highlights of the family time. They were WAY more than Cousins. They were like the best of best friends. Im so thankful I got to be a part of it. "I got you babe" will forever be a song I hear and I see them singing as if they are in frounf of a million people loud and proud. Amy, cancer sucks, its been a shock to the system im sure, your mind and body cant keep up, my heart literally aches for you and the kids. Please lean on us and God and your community. We love you and We will see you soon my friend ????

Grant was a year behind me in school. I remember passing Grant in the halls of the high school. He was always laughing and smiling. I remember thinking how awesome he was and wishing I could be as cool as that. His kindness was infectious and he will be sorely missed. My condolences to you all.

I had the privilege of teaching Grant and Amy’s children in kindergarten. All three were wonderful students! Grant and Amy taught them to be compassionate, respectful, hard working but also to joke around and have fun. Deep condolences to Amy and hugs for Carson, Aryssa and Maycee!
