Harvey A Zahringer
Hilbert, WI

Harvey A. Zahringer, age 65, of Hilbert died on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 following a courageous battle with cancer at his home in the Town of Woodville.  He was born June 30, 1954 in Appleton and raised in Stockbridge, son of  the late Hugo & Crescence (Thill) Zahringer.  Harvey married Darlene B. Jacobs on June 15, 1974 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. John.

Harvey worked much of his life at Tecumseh Products in New Holstein until the plant closed.  He later worked for Pierce Manufacturing until he was unable to continue.  Through these places of employment, Harvey made many life long friends.

He was a member of the Tri-Parish Faith Community, often attending worship services at St. John Sacred Heart Church.

Harvey enjoyed to go hunting and never passed up an opportunity to play cards, especially Sheepshead, with people he loved.  He looked forward to spending time up North with his sons and everyone at the cabin in Grand View for rest and relaxation. He cherished time spent with his sons watching the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Wisconsin Badgers; moments made great not by what was on the television, but by the people at his side.  He loved to be able to help his children in all of their endeavors and projects, and treasured every moment he could with his grandchildren.  Although he was a lousy joke teller, Harvey had a quick wit and was well known for his one liners.

He will be fondly remembered as a great guy, a great husband, father and grandfather.  Harvey was someone with a big heart, always going out of his way to lend a hand and be a blessing to the people around him.

Survivors include his wife: Darlene; his children: Jason (Jean) Zahringer, Jeremy (Jennifer) Zahringer, Joshua (Laura) Zahringer, Jonathan (Amanda) Zahringer; 13 grandchildren: Jackson, Violet, Aidan, Triston, Sophia, Cayden, Grayson, Trystan, Charlotte, Ava, Aubrey, Kendall & Caleb; his siblings: Richard (Esther) Zahringer, Sister Carolyn Zahringer, James Zahringer, Mary (Russ) Rautmann, June (Richard) Mueller; and his siblings-in-law: James Guelig, Harold Jacobs and his significant other, Kathleen, Alfred (Shirley) Jacobs, John (Sandy) Jacobs, Gloria (Ron) Schunk, Eunice Heller and her significant other, Dave, Donald (Lori) Jacobs, Diane (Robert) Willems, Karen (Jeffrey) Goeser, Gerald (Barb) Jacobs, & Ellen (Vic) Brault.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Hubert & Eleanor Jacobs; a sister: Arlene Guelig; 2 infant sisters; and sisters-in-law: Diane Zahringer and Joyce Jacobs.

Harvey’s family would like to thank everyone at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton and everyone with Ascension Home Care and Hospice for all of the loving care that was provided to Harvey.  They would also like to thank the many friends and family who have made visits, offered support and continued to pray for and with Harvey and his entire family.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Betley officiating.  Burial will be in the St. John Catholic Cemetery in St. John.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 12:45 pm.
I work with Harvey at Pierce Mfg. and he was always smiling and sharing lame jokes with me.

God's love to all of you at this very sad time. If you are a friend of a Zahringer; you are a friend for life. They knew how to live their faith and how to have fun. May God hold all of you in His loving arms.

I first met Harvey at Pierce. When I quit there he asked for my phone number so we could stay in touch and meet for breakfast. We met for breakfast at least a half dozen times. When he was diagnosed with Cancer he wanted me to know and I told him that I wanted details, don't sugar coat it. I learned that he lost his mother to Cancer at a very young age just like I did. I visited Harvey at his house when he was in Hospice care. I am happy I was able to visit with him, his wife, and son. Harvey was always positive and for some reason really enjoyed my company. I am very happy I had the opportunity to know such a great man.
