James H. Millay, age 85, of Chilton, died on August 18, 2019, with his family by his side, at Thedacare Regional Medical Center in Appleton. He was born June 26, 1934, son of the late Raymond and Marie Millay. On November 28, 1974, he married the love of his life, Patricia Diedrich in Las Vegas.

James was a family man who loved all eleven of his children and worked to be a good provider. His favorite times were spent with his family, including his grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews. He was a special man and the love of Patricia’s life. They liked traveling and he was always up for a game of cards. James was a Packer fan and had a great sense of humor. He was the postmaster in Chilton for many years, a member of the Lions Club and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stockbridge, as well as a United States Air Force veteran.

James is survived by his wife, Patricia; eleven children: Marie Millay Taylor (Warren Bane), Barb Millay Schell (John Preston), Jeff (Celia) Engel, Daniel (Rhonda) Engel, Julie (Duane) Zahn, Greg Engel, Tony Engel, Mary Jo (Keith) Glass, Tina (Brad) Burg, Todd Engel, and Rob (Shane) Engel; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters: Joan Mitchell and Catherine (Dan) Albedyll; sisters-in-law: Nancy (Bob) Wilson, Shirley (Kay) Hostettler, Janet (Gary) Steimetz, Carol Sneath, and Mary Beth (Daryl) Kingsley; and many nieces and nephews.

Uncle Jim always kept me laughing or giggling over his stories or his antics. He had such a contagious smile. His love for Green Bay Packers was shared throughout the family and friends and if you were not a fan, he easily turned you into one. You would be proud Uncle Jim as our precious Golden Retriever is named Lambeau. I admired his love for Aunt Pat and for all of their children. You will be greatly missed here on earth, however, Heaven gained a Blessed Angel. I will be watching for heavenly signals of your and dad Justin's escapades. May the many happy memories bring all the families some peace. Much love to all

Uncle Jim was always my favorite uncle. He turned all of us to be Packer's fans along with the state of Montana. He was the only person I knew that could put dad in his place. He left a mark In Butte Montana in the old days that still embarrassed the Catholic Irishman.I know for a fact that when he gets through that golden gate in the sky,his brother (Sonny) will say what took you so long.We Love you Pat and family and the hurt is hard.

Cathy and Mike Millay (nephew) - Aug. 20, 2019

Many years ago Jim used to get beer from his neighbor and we would order beer from Jim. My younger daughter Dayna had a driver learning permit at the time. My brother Ray & I with my daughter Dayna went to get our recent purchase. The problem was Ray & I sat down and drank Pabst with Jim and Dayna with just a learner permit, needed to drive Ray & I home with a car full of beer. We also needed to stop once at a bar to go to the bathroom. Dayna remember that night and brings it up every time we talk about Jim. If a person ever needed a really great uncle, Jim was that uncle. I will really miss all his stories. Jim & Pat also show us all how a great relationship should be! But I won't miss the Pabst!

Uncle Jim was such a fun guy and we have so many fond memories of his and Pat's visits to Montana and our many card games and tipping a few. Much love to Pat and all his children and grandchildren and the rest of the Millay family.

I will always have fond memories of our pecan runs, jelly belly excursions, walleye fish dining, and sitting around the table beating Marie and Pat at cribbage. My thoughts and prayers to everyone.
