Cancer has claimed my body, but my faith in God hasn’t let it claim my soul.  I died on May 12, 2020. I was born on Jan. 22, 1948, the second of six children, born to Alfred and Marcella (Buechel) Geiser.  I grew up on a dairy farm in the Town of Charlestown and married my soulmate, Stephen Woelfel, on Aug. 8, 1970, at St. Martin’s Church, Charlestown. Together, we were blessed with five children.

My life was filled as a daughter, wife, mother, friend, part-time office worker and volunteer for church and community.  My office work included roles as legal secretary, tax preparer for 30+ years, scheduler, bookkeeper, payroll clerk and receptionist for various businesses, including New Hope Center.  Church work included 20+ years as a religious education teacher, assisting at funeral dinners and picnics, decorating for Christmas and Easter, baking for various events, as well as helping at Century Ridge for Rosary and Masses, and serving in 4-H leadership for more than 11 years.

My hobbies included crafts of all kinds, sewing, gardening, growing flowers, cooking, baking, going to lots of children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, attending concerts and plays, and traveling.

Survivors include my husband, Steve, my three sons and daughter, their spouses and my nine grandchildren:  Daryl, wife Sara, Emma and Devin; Daryn, wife Martha, Mara and Megan; Kyle, wife Stacy, Charlotte, Eleanor and Caroline; and Wendy, husband Dave, Gavin and Lily.  I am also survived by my four brothers and one sister and their spouses:  Mark and Patti Geiser, Marvin and Grace Geiser, Leon and Karen Geiser, Sharon and Rick Amundson, and Luke and Gail Geiser.  Also surviving are my in-laws, Marvin Woelfel and special friend Beverly Baltz, Don and Mary Breckheimer, Dan and Gail Woelfel, Ken and Pat Scholz, and Roger and Kathy Woelfel.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

I was preceded in death by my infant son, Kevin, a miscarried daughter, my parents, Alfred and Marcella Geiser, and my in-laws, John and Marcella Woelfel, sister-in-law, Judy Woelfel, brothers-in-law, Michael, David, John and sister-in-law, Teresa Woelfel.

Services will be private for my family at this time.

Thank you to all who have supported, prayed, sent cards and flowers, visited, brought food for both my husband and me during this cancer journey.  Special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the UW-Madison and Theda Care Cancer Center, as well as the in-home nurses.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.

God saw you getting tired. When a cure was not to be, He wrapped his arms around you, and whispered, “COME TO ME.”  You didn’t deserve what you went through, so He gave you needed rest.  God’s garden must be BEAUTIFUL. He takes only the BEST.
We're so sorry to hear of Janet's passing. Our deepest condolences to Steve and the rest of the family. We always loved seeing Janet and Steve on our trips back to Chilton.

P.S. Loved the pictures!

The Lord has taken one of our best into his arms. We will miss our unusual Sunday evening golf outings with you. We walked, we talked, we picked up leaves and hickory nuts and never needed a score card! Just a great time, great friendship. Your fight was unbelievable. Not many could have endured what you did. Visiting during this battle, experiencing your strength, made our problems so insignificant. One Note: we will not get to press you to play the accordion again, never knew if you could. Miss your dedication to your family, your laugh and smile. May you enjoy God’s peace, joy and love you so deserve.
