Jeffrey T. “Jeff” Stilp, age 63 of Stockbridge, died on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Lakeview Campground in Chilton.  He was born November 6, 1957 in Appleton, son of Thomas Stilp and the late Phyllis (Zacharias) Stilp.  He married Cheryl Ecker on May 13, 1978 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge.

During his working career, Jeff worked for J&E Construction in Stockbridge, and later at HUI in Kiel until his retirement just over a year ago.  He was dedicated to his community and volunteered with the Stockbridge Fire Department where he also served as a fire investigator.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge and enjoyed time in the great outdoors, hunting, sturgeon spearing and camping.  He was an excellent griller and was best known as a master bacon griller.  His time spent with friends and family while camping were often times the highlight of his summers, and he enjoyed handing down legacies of every camping tradition.  He kept himself busy by cutting wood and made sure that his father was kept busy, but it’s entirely possible it was the other way around. Above all else, Jeff loved time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife: Cheryl; father and step-mother: Tom & Mary Stilp; father-in-law and mother-in-law: John & Lillian Ecker; his children: Debra Stilp & special friend, Jimmy Wettstein, Dan (Stacy) Stilp, Tracy (Brian) Westphal; 9 grandchildren: Mason, MacKenzie, Carl, Collyn, Petyon, Candace, Taylor, Devyn & Bailey; 2 great grandchildren: Scarlett & Mila; his siblings: Cathy (Dave) Fesing, Jean (Al) Kohlman, Dave (Leslie) Stilp; step-siblings: Brian (Dawn) Hanke, Lisa (Nick) Bretll; siblings-in-law: Carol (Craig) Carey, Lynn (Jim) Kurscheidt, Chuck (Jolene) Ecker, Brian Ecker, Dean Ecker and his special friend, Julie Ditter; and his godchildren: Sarah Kohlman, Thomas Swan & Brianna Ecker.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Phyllis; a sister: Barb Swan; and a brother-in-law: Bryon Kees.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church (Military Road) in Stockbridge with Rev. Michael Betley officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.  A time of visitation will take place at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 29, 2021 and on Friday at the church from 9:30 am until 10:45 am.  There will also be a Parish Vigil Service Thursday evening at the funeral home at the close of the visitation.
Seeing him and Cheryl on Saturday nights at Schumacher's Shanty. Always a little laugh or 2

So sorry for your families loss. He was a great guy. We made some great memories at Lakeview Campground a few years ago.
