Jerome A Hauser
Chilton WI
Jerome A. "Jerry" Hauser, age 92, of Chilton, died on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at his home in Chilton. He was born September 27, 1933 in Charlesburg, Wisconsin, son of the late Anton & Magdalene (Muellenbach) Hauser.
In 1956, Jerome began his service to his country in the United States Army where he was stationed for a time in Germany. Following his honorable discharge in 1959, he returned to the Chilton area and began his working career at Foley for the following 43 years. Upon his retirement, Jerry wanted to keep busy and worked for the next 9 years for the Calumet County Fair Grounds.
One night, shortly after his return to Chilton, he and a group of his friends went bowling. During their evening together, they decided that the following day they would go smelt fishing. It just so happened that at the bowling alley that evening, there was a group of young women bowling as well, some of whom would also be fishing with Jerry and his friends the next day. On a dare, Jerry asked one of the ladies to accompany him on the fishing excursion. As they say, the rest is history. After that first date, Jerry was smitten and turned over his wallet and keys to the lovely Lucille Kress. The couple was united in marriage on June 2, 1962 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton and enjoyed nearly 64 years of marriage together.
He was a lifelong member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, formerly St. Mary Parish, the Knights of Columbus and the Rock Hunting Club. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed time spent outdoors hunting or fishing and traveling from card club to card club playing round after round of Sheepshead. If he had a moment of quiet, he could be found tinkering in his workshop or resting his eyes during a good “bear nap”. With his big heart and gentle spirt, Jerry went out of his way to help others and lend his hand and his skills to care for the people around him. He especially loved teaching his children and his grandchildren everything that they needed to know about building or fixing things throughout their homes or on their vehicles.
Survivors include his wife: Lucy; his children: Paul Hauser, Kathleen (Mark) Jones, Ronald Hauser, Kris Geier; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; his siblings: Arlene (David) Daniels, Diane Hauser; and his siblings-in-law: Robert (Janet) Kress, Ann Kopitzke, George (Anita) Geiser, Gerald (Shirley) Geiser, June Geiser, Joseph (Pauline) Geiser, Diane (Jim) Kasper, Rita (Glenn) Pingel, Elizabeth (Dan) Herms and Pete (Debbie) Geiser. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; his parents-in-law: Alois & Violet Geiser; a sister: Virginia (Leroy) Sukowaty; and his siblings-in-law: Elmer (Barbara) Wagner, Jim (Phyllis) Geiser, Tom (Geiser), and nieces and nephews: Gary Kress, Shelly Geiser, Debbie Sukowaty and Glen Sukowaty.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with Rev. Jon Thorson officiating. Entombment will be in the Knollwood Mausoleum. A time of visitation will be held at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton on Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Friday at the funeral home from 9:30 am until 10:30 am. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available above for those wishing to watch a memorial video or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family.

Very sorry for your loss! What a wonderfully long life he lived. My best memory is when hanging out with Kris I accidentally put my elbow through the window and I was so worried I would get yelled at but he was so kind and said he only cared if I was hurt! Over the many years he has alway said Hi when we passed! He will be missed.
