Joan J Steinhauer
New Holstein, WI

Joan Janice Steinhauer, age 70, of New Holstein, passed on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Ascension Calumet Hospital in Chilton.  She was born August 24, 1950 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Anton & Sophia (Zolp) Jonelis.  Joan married Stacey Steinhauer on September 15, 1990 in Pensacola, Florida.

Early in her working career, Joan worked as a Hospital Ward Clerk in Pensacola transcribing orders from doctors that were often times difficult to read.  Although sometimes challenging, Joan enjoyed the job and the many people she came across and could help.

She was an avid reader who appreciated a well deserved nap, and was proud to have been astute at Clogging.  Joan was quite handy as a seamstress who loved to create works by her own hand; she was especially well regarded for making Quillows, a quilt that could be folded into a pillow.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she also had been active in the Relief Society.  Her faith was of utmost importance to her, so she took great pride in teaching Children's Sunday School to pass along the knowledge and tradition of her faith.  She will always be remembered as someone who gave of herself  with unconditional love and compassion to the people around her: strangers, friends, family and especially her great grandchildren who she was over the moon about. Wherever Joan was, so was her dog Precious or Stacey's dog, Teddy.

Survivors include her husband: Stacey; her children: Shirley Marie Arnold, Billie Rae Brush, Travis David Long, Veronica Marie Long; grandchildren: Brittnee, Alantis, Amanda, Anna, Brooklyn, Robert, Kenneth, Sarah, Allison, Nathan, Natalie, Amari, A'nnalise & Waverly; great grandchildren: Bentley, Layla, Olivia & Reighlyn; a sister: Joyce (Thomas) Jensen; a brother: Todd Jonelis; and a son-in-law: Timothy Arnold.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be at 6:00 pm on Monday, May 10, 2021 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton with Brother Richard Feustel presiding.  Burial will be in the Kentucky Veteran Cemetery in Radcliff, KY.  Friends may visit at the Wieting Family Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Monday, May 10, 2021 when the service will be held.

JIf tears could build a stairway,
and memories a lane.
I would walk right up to Heaven
and bring you back again.

No farewell words were spoken,
No time to say "Goodbye".
You were gone before I knew it,
and only God knows why.

My heart still aches with sadness,
and secret tears still flow.
What it meant to love you -
No one can ever know.

But now I know you want me
to mourn for you no more;
To remember all the happy times
life still has much in store.

Since you'll never be forgotten,
I pledge to you today~
A hollowed place within my heart
is where you'll always stay.
